Indian singer Master Saleem, also known as Saleem Shahzada , is well-known for his work as a playback vocalist in Bollywood movies including Heyy Babyy (2007), Dostana, and Love Aaj Kal (2009), as well as for his devotional singing. Additionally, he has put out a number of solo albums featuring Sufi and Punjabi music.
Master Saleem Childhood And Education
Saleem (Saleem Shahzada), was Master Saleem’s birthplace at Shahkot, close to Jalandhar, Punjab. His father, Ustad Puran Shah Koti, was a well-known Sufi singer and the mentor of folk singers Hans Raj Hans, Jasbir Jassi, Sabar Koti, and Diljaan. Saleem joined him as a follower at the age of six and began studying singing.

He received the moniker Master Saleem when, at the age of seven, he performed in public for the first time with his song, Charkhe Di Ghook, during the Bathinda Doordarshan (TV station) inauguration ceremony. He soon began to feature on television programs such as Jhilmil Taare.

At the age of ten, Saleem’s debut album, Charkhe Di Ghook, was made available. It became popular after being released on the label Sur Taal, which was founded by Manjinder Singh Goli, a friend of his father’s.Several Punjabi music CDs, live performances, and religious tours sprang from this . Additionally, his song Dhol Jagiro Da became a tremendous hit, gaining him widespread recognition.
But as he grew older in the late 1990s, his voice began to change, which decreased his appeal. He returned to the spotlight in 2000 when he performed the Sufi song Aj Hona Deedar Mahi da at a Doordarshan channel New Year’s program. He went on to release albums honoring Goddess Durga, such as Mela Maiya Da (2004), Aj Hai Jagrata, Meri Maiya, and Darshan Kar Lao.
Master Saleem was first introduced to music director Sandeep Chowta by vocalist Jasbir Jassi in 2005. Chowta then called him to Delhi to record the song Sajni for the Sony Music album Teri Sajni.
After hearing Saleem’s performances at a jagaran at the Devi Talaab Mandir in Jalandhar being broadcast on a religious TV channel, Shankar Mahadevan of the musical group Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy eventually got involved. As a result, Saleem made his playback singing debut with the song “Mast Kalandar” from the movie Heyy Babyy (2007), which was composed by them.
His Bollywood career began with the song, which became popular. The majority of well-known singles, such as “Tashan Mein” from the movie Tashan, “Maa Da Ladla” from the movie Dostana (2008), and “Aahun Aahun” from the movie Love Aaj Kal (2009), came after this. and in 2010, “Humka Peeni Hai” from “Dabangg,” “Shakira” from “No Problem,” and “Chamki Jawani” from Yamla Pagla Deewana were among his hit songs. One of his initial successes in 2011 was “Rola Pe Gaya” in Patiala House.
