Born on February 8, 1978, Ranveer Singh Brar is an Indian celebrity chef, author, restaurateur, Masterchef India judge, and actor. In addition to being a judge on MasterChef India (seasons four, six, seven, and eight), he is well-known for hosting popular television food shows.

Ranveer Brar also judges alongside other chefs Sanjeev Kapoor (season four), Vikas Khanna (all seasons), Vineet Bhatia (season six), Garima Arora (season seven), and Pooja Dhingra (season eight).

Ranveer Brar Childhood And Schooling

At a young age, Brar was motivated to follow his love of cuisine by the neighbourhood kebab vendors in Lucknow, India. Ranveer Brar was born into a Sikh household, the son of Ishwar Singh and Surinder Kaur. He attended the HAL School in Lucknow for his education.

His desire to master the craft drove him to offer himself as Munir Ustad’s pupil. After some early resistance, Brar’s family caved up and he enrolled in the Institute of Hotel Management, Lucknow, to have a more official introduction to the culinary industry.

Ranveer Brar Career (In Restaurants And Associations)

Brar started working at the Taj Mahal Hotel after graduating from IHM. Ranveer Brar opened the seafood restaurant “Morisco,” the Italian restaurant “il Camino,” and the little outside barbecue restaurant “Fishtail” at the Fort Aguada Beach Resort in Goa in 2001. In 2003, he was a part of the newly opened Radisson Blu Hotel, Noida, back in Delhi. At the age of 25, he also made history as the nation’s youngest executive chef.

After leaving, he created the excellent Franco-Asian restaurant “Banq” in Boston, Massachusetts. Banq was the recipient of multiple honours, including the Wallpaper magazine’s Best New Restaurant in the World. The eatery is currently closed for good.

After that, he was named Corporate Chef for one of Boston’s oldest restaurant chains, One World Hospitality Group. When he returned to India, he took a job as Senior Executive Chef at Novotel Juhu Beach in Mumbai.

Brar created the menu for the MTV India restaurant chain, which Viacom 18’s consumer products division introduced. The first FLYP at MTV restaurant debuted in Delhi in mid-December 2015. Chandigarh saw its second launch in mid-December 2015 , while Mumbai saw its third installment in the autumn of 2017.

In December 2015 he developed and introduced a range of ‘artisan’ meal packages in collaboration with Haute Chef. In the spring of 2016, he also opened the upscale patisserie English Vinglish in Mumbai, which serves fusion Indian baked goods, breads, and desserts.

In December 2016, he launched TAG Gourmart Kitchen by Ranveer Brar, an all-vegetarian fine-dining establishment in Mumbai. In 2017, he also opened the now-closed Mayura restaurant in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada.

Brar was in charge of Alila Hotels and Resorts’ F&B concept for the restaurants at the historic Alila site in Bishangarh. Ranveer Brar was hired by Royal Caribbean International to curate fine Indian cuisine for two of their cruise ships during its Singaporean voyages. Additionally, he collaborated with Thomas Cook India to customise the meal for specialised Indian tourists visiting other countries.

As part of Mercedes-Benz India’s Luxe Drive Live campaign, Brar travelled around India with the Ranveer Brar Culinary Academy, doing cooking demonstrations and workshops across the country.

Ranveer launched Kashkan, an Indian eatery, in the Dubai Festival City Mall in September 2023. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the restaurant’s pan-Indian menu features cuisine from all around the nation.
