Vikas Khanna Childhood And schooling

Khanna was born into a Punjabi household in Amritsar, India. Vikas Khanna attended St. Francis School in Amritsar for his education. Vikas Khanna couldn’t run till he was 13 years old due to a leg abnormality (club foot) that he was born with. After studying hotel management at Manipal Academy of Higher Education, he graduated in 1991. After that, he attended New York University and the Culinary Institute of America.

Vikas Khanna Career

Khanna worked with the Leela Group of Hotels, the Welcome Group, the Oberoi Group, and the Taj Hotels when he was in India. Before joining Junoon, an elite Indian restaurant in Manhattan’s Flatiron area, Khanna had worked at Salaam Bombay and The Café at the Rubin Museum of Art. In its first year of operation, Junoon was given a positive review by Sam Sifton in The New York Times . The Michelin Guide also granted the restaurant a star for six years running, starting in 2011.

Additionally, he has collaborated with renowned chefs such as Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Bobby Flay, Eric Ripert, and Gordon Ramsay . Vikas Khanna launched the Kinara restaurant in Dubai in 2019. Vikas Khanna launched Ellora, a restaurant, in Dubai in 2020.

Vikas Khanna TV series

Beginning in 2011, Khanna presented seven seasons of the British-inspired MasterChef India series (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8). Since since, he has hosted every season of the programme. Khanna was asked to participate in Season 6 of MasterChef Australia as a guest judge.

At the 69th Cannes Film Festival, his documentary Kitchens of Gratitude was screened at Marche du Film. The Last Colour, his directorial debut, is a movie about the day-to-day battles for survival on the streets of India’s old city of Banaras. At the 71st Cannes Film Festival, the movie’s teaser was unveiled.

Philanthropy Khanna established the “South Asian Kid’s Infinite Vision” (SAKIV) foundation to concentrate on global challenges that require immediate attention, such as hurricanes along the Gulf Coast, Haiti, and tsunami relief. The charity has organised numerous international events, including trips to the Taj Mahal in India and the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, in cooperation with nonprofit organisations like Save the Children.

2018 saw the establishment of India’s first culinary museum at Vikas Khanna’s alma institution, the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel . Khanna established “Cooking for Life” in 2001 in New York with the assistance of the best chefs in the world , which promotes a number of social causes.
