Puthiya Niyamam (2016) was Roshan’s first big part. Roshan Mathew went on to have supporting roles in Aanandam (2016), Koode (2018), and Moothon (2019) as his career grew. He was awarded two SIIMA Awards for the later two. His starring parts in the dramas C U Soon (2021) and Kappela (2020) brought him more recognition. Additionally, Roshan starred in the Hindi films Darlings (2022) and Choked (2020).

Roshan is from the Indian state of Kerala, namely Changanassery, Kottayam. He comes from a Catholic family in Syro Malabar. His mother Regina Augustine is a former PWD engineer, and his father Mathew Joseph works as a bank manager at Canara Bank. In Kottayam, he attended Kendriya Vidyalaya. Roshan Mathew enrolled at the Kochi School of Engineering at CUSAT, but left after a year to pursue a B.Sc. in Physics at Madras Christian College in Chennai. became interested in performing during his second year of college and enrolled in the Drama School Mumbai after graduating.

Although Roshan has performed since he was in school, it wasn’t until August 2010 that he had the chance to work in professional theatre when Madras Christian College had an actor audition for Stagefright Productions, a Chennai-based theatre group, for their production of Dirty Dancing. After Roshan was cast in the character of Neal Kellerman, the show opened in February 2011 at The Museum Theatre in Chennai. He fell in love with theatre very immediately, and he went on to work in plays like Tughlaq, Kamala, Leap, The Uprising, and Murder Me Always with all of the leading companies in Chennai.

In 2013, he participated in the Christmas pantomime at The Little Theatre as well. Along with his pals, Roshan founded Theatre No. 59 at Madras Christian College. The company performed numerous plays at various colleges throughout the state. Their 2013 national student theatre festival win for Best Director went to Roshan for their revival of Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit, which was well received for their production of Alfred Hitchcock/Patrick Hamilton’s Rope. Roshan participated in The Drama School Mumbai’s 2016 production of Eugene Shwartz’s The Dragon after relocating to Bombay in 2014.

Roshan Mathew left school to participate in the highly regarded 07/07/07 production directed by Faezeh Jalali. Subsequently, he starred in the films Given (directed by Padma Damodaran, written by Shivam Sharma), and The Glass Menagerie (adapted by Rajit Kapoor). Along with a fresh group of local artists, he has recently directed an original play in Kochi called A Very Normal Family.
