Indian politician Mahant Balaknath Yogi is now serving as a member of parliament for Rajasthan’s Alwar Lok Sabha seat. He is the Baba Mastnath University’s (BMU) Chancellor. In addition, he is the eighth Mahant of the Hindu Nath sect. In a ceremony on July 29, 2016, Yogi Adityanath and Baba Ramdev were present when Mahant Chandnath named Balaknath as his successor.

Mahant Balaknath Yogi Early Years

Balak Nath was born into a Yadav family in the Behror tehsil village of Kohrana. His roots are in Alwar. He was raised in an agrarian household until he entered sannyasa at the age of six and a half, at which point he left home to seek refuge at an ashram. When he was little, Baba Khetanath gave him the name Gurumukh. Up till the age of six, he resided in the Matsyendra Maharaj Ashram from 1985 to 1991. After that, he and Mahant Chandnath went to a maths in the village of Nathawali Theri in the Hanumangarh area.

Mahant Balaknath Yogi Career In Politics

Balak Nath’s political journey was influenced by his mentor, Mahant Chandnath, a former Alwar MP. Balak Nath succeeded him as the leader of the Baba Mastnath Mutt in Haryana, carrying on the traditions of his guru. The endorsement of yoga master Baba Ramdev has also played a significant role in his political trajectory. A committed team from Mahendragarh in Haryana follows Balak Nath on the campaign trail, demonstrating the broad support he has received.

He was selected as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Lok Sabha nominee from Alwar, Rajasthan, and he defeated Bhanwar Jitendra Singh of the Indian National Congress by a margin of three lakh votes to win the 2019 election.
