Karan Johar Early Years And Private Life

Karan Johar was born in Mumbai, India on May 25, 1972, parents Hiroo and film producer Yash Johar, who founded Dharma Productions. It is his mother’s side that is Sindhi Hindu, and his father’s side that is Punjabi Hindu. He attended High School in Green Lawns. In his book, An Unsuitable Boy, Johar claims that he took the entrance test of the top all-boys boarding school, The Doon School in Dehradun, but scored a zero in mathematics. As a result, Johar’s mother received a highly “emotional letter” from the then-headmaster Gulab Ramchandani rejecting admission. Following Green Lawns, he studied in Mumbai at the H.R. College of Commerce and Economics.

Playing the part of Shrikant in the 1989 Doordarshan serial Indradhanush, Johar began his career in the entertainment world. He says that commercial Indian film impacted him as a child and that actors like Raj Kapoor, Yash Chopra, and Sooraj Barjatya were his idols. Johar used numerology for a while, coming up with movie names where the initial word and several additional words started with the letter K. Johar made the decision to discontinue this practise after seeing the 2006 movie Lage Raho Munna Bhai, which was critical of numerology.

Johar stated, “Everyone knows what my sexual orientation is,” while talking about it. I’m not gonna have to yell it out. I won’t repeat it if I have to because I live in a nation where doing so could get me arrested.” Through surrogacy, Johar became the father of twins in February 2017—a boy and a girl. The twins were born in Mumbai’s Masrani Hospital. Johar gave his daughter Roohi’s name by rearranging his mother’s name, Hiroo, and called his son Yash after his father.
