Farah Khan has also worked on international projects and Tamil films, including Vanity Fair (2004), Monsoon Wedding (2001), Bombay Dreams (2002), Marigold: An Adventure in India (2007), and the Chinese films Perhaps Love (2005) and Kung Fu Yoga (2017), for which she received nominations for the Golden Horse Award and the Tony Award.

Her two nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best filmmaker came from her work as a filmmaker of masala films, Main Hoon Na (2004) and Om Shanti Om (2007). Subsequently, she directed the dance heist comedy Happy New Year (2014) and the comedy Tees Maar Khan (2010).

Career in Choreography

Khan was a sociology student at St. Xavier’s College in Bombay when Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video was first made available. Despite never having danced before, she was so moved by the song that she quickly made it her career. Farah Khan formed a dancing troupe and essentially taught herself how to dance.

Additionally, she choreographed the 2013 Indian Premier League official anthem, “Jumping Jhapak” in 2013.

Alongside Anthony van Laast, Khan co-wrote the choreography for a number of worldwide productions, including Monsoon Wedding (2001), Bombay Dreams (2002), and Vanity Fair (2004). For Bombay Dreams, Khan was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Choreography. In preparation for a Bollywood rendition of her song “Hips Don’t Lie” for the MTV Video Music Awards on August 31, 2006, Khan taught Colombian pop artist Shakira.[6] In the 2009 movie Blue, Khan also choreographed Kylie Minogue for the song “Chiggy Wiggy”.

debut and breakthrough as a director (2004-2007)

With the Red Chillies Entertainment-produced masala film Main Hoon Na (2004), which starred Shahrukh Khan and Sushmita Sen in the key roles, Khan made his directing debut. Upon its release, the film garnered favorable reviews and became the second highest-grossing Indian film of the year, with only Veer-Zaara, starring Shah Rukh Khan, surpassing it. Khan became the second female filmmaker to receive a nomination for the Filmfare Award’s Best filmmaker category thanks to it. This was her first time receiving the nomination.

Farah Khan then went on to direct the reincarnation melodrama Om Shanti Om (2007), which once more starred Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the key parts.

Reversal, film debut, and directing comeback (2010–present)

Her next film project was the comedy Tees Maar Khan, which starred Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar in the key parts. Alongside Hrithik Roshan and Vaibhavi Merchant, she served as a judge on the dance reality show Just Dance on Star Plus.

Bigg Boss Halla Bol, a reality program that was a spin-off of Bigg Boss season 8, was hosted by Khan in 2015, taking Salman Khan’s place. “Three’s Company” is the production firm that Khan and her husband founded in honor of their triplets.
