Born on August 29, 1991, Varun Chakravarthy Vinod is an Indian cricket player who bowls leg spin for the Kolkata Knight Riders of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and plays domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu. In July 2021, he made his debut for the cricket team of India internationally.

On August 29, 1991, Chakravarthy Ambig was born in Bidar, Karnataka. Varun Chakravarthy attended St. Patrick’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, where he played cricket, and Kendriya Vidyalaya CLRI in Chennai, where he completed his education. Varun Chakravarthy graduated from SRM University with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. He quit his work as an architect at the age of 25 to become a professional cricket player.

On September 20, 2018, he made his List A debut for Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy season 2018–19. With 22 dismissals in nine games, he was Tamil Nadu’s top wicket-taker in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. On November 12, 2018, he made his Tamil Nadu first-class debut in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy.

At the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL), he was purchased by the Kings XI Punjab in December 2018 for a sum of 8.4 crores. On March 27, 2019, he made his Twenty20 debut for the group. With 25 runs in his opening over, he let up the most runs of any bowler making his IPL debut. The Kings XI Punjab released him prior to the 2020 Indian Premier League auction.
The Kolkata Knight Riders purchased him at the 2020 Indian Premier League auction, ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League. Varun Chakravarthy grabbed five wickets for twenty runs on October 24, 2020, in an IPL match against the Delhi Capitals in Abu Dhabi, his first five-wicket haul in the league.
He was included in the India Twenty20 International (T20I) team for their series against Australia in October 2020. Nevertheless, Chakravarthy’s injury forced him to miss the team on November 9, 2020. Varun Chakravarthy was included in the India T20I team for their series against England in February 2021.
He was included in India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) and One Day International (ODI) teams for their series against Sri Lanka in June 2021. On July 25, 2021, he made his T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka, getting Dasun Shanaka’s wicket. Chakravarthy was included in the Indian team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021.
Varun Chakravarthy Individual Life
In addition, Chakravarthy played a club cricket player in a brief cameo in the 2014 Indian Tamil-language sports drama film Jeeva. Varun Chakravarthy wed his longtime partner Neha Khedekar in a private ceremony in Chennai on December 11, 2020.
Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, teammates with the Kolkata Knight Riders, tested positive for COVID-19 on May 3, 2021. Consequently, the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Kolkata Knight Riders game was cancelled. In the end, the competition was halted.
