Since he began playing competitive tennis at the age of ten, he has been training and has always been a fitness nut. He began practicing in a variety of fitness disciplines after graduating from college, and in 2009 he founded Fitnessim, a martial arts training facility. He relocated to Mumbai from Pune in 2004 and developed a passion for filmmaking. A Marathi film director saw his short films and videos and invited him to help with his upcoming project. However, his hectic schedule made it impossible for him to continue going to the gym and working out. He thus left it and went up to the manager of the gym where he had previously worked out, telling him how he was feeling and that he wanted to pursue a career in fitness. His career as a fitness trainer began when the manager invited him to become a trainer at the gym.
Nupur disclosed that he used to ride his bike around Bandra and give his business cards to the security guards at the posh gyms, asking them to get in touch with him if there was a job opening. He texted Sushmita Sen, saying, “I am a fitness trainer and I want to train you,” after managing to obtain her phone number. He was instructed to mail them his profile after receiving a reply. After Nupur’s interview, Sushmita suggested that they try a trial class the next day. After the trial class, Sushmita Sen hired him, and the rest is history.

In 2014, Nupur took part in his first triathlon, the Taiwan 70.3 half ironman, and in 2016, he took home his first medal from Ironman. He has finished two half and two full Ironman races thus far. He competed for India in the Netflix original reality series “Ultimate Beastmaster” in 2017. He came in eighth place overall.
In 2018, he was employed as a Fight Master for the Disney India television series “Aladdin – Experience The Magic.”

In 2019, he made waves with an audacious nude picture shoot. Nupur ran barefoot in a grassy field during the photo shoot, while in another, he was the sole thing wearing a Christmas cap. 7.

On November 18, 2022, Nupur Shikhare and Ira Khan, the daughter of Aamir Khan, became engaged in a private ceremony held in Mumbai. Ira was spotted at the engagement ceremony wearing a stunning red gown, while Nupur was dressed in a black tuxedo with a white shirt and black bow. Aamir Khan and Reena Datta, Ira Khan’s parents, were there during the engagement, along with Akshara Haasan, Vijay Varma, Ashutosh Gowariker, grandmother Zeenat Hussain, cousin Imran Khan, and stepmother Kiran Rao.
In 2020, the pair made their formal relationship public and began sharing their adorable photos on social media.
At one of Ira Khan’s cycling events in Italy in September 2022, Nupur Shikhare got down on one knee, held up a ring, and asked Ira to marry him.
