Born on November 4, 1971, Tabassum Fatima Hashmi, also known as Tabu, is an Indian Actress who mainly appears in Hindi films. Known as one of the most skilled actors in Hindi cinema, she has portrayed damaged women in both mainstream and indie films, ranging from literary to fictitious.

A record five Critics Awards for Best Actress are among the many honours she has received, including two National Film Awards, seven Filmfare Awards, and two Filmfare Awards South. The fourth highest civilian honour in India, the Padma Shri, was given to her in 2011.
As a teenager, Tabu appeared in Dev Anand’s Hum Naujawan (1985) with her first credit, and in the Telugu film Coolie No. 1 (1991), she performed her first main part. Tabu won the 1994 Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her role in the action film Vijaypath in Hindi.
For her performance as a young lady impacted by the Punjab insurgency in the political thriller Maachis (1996), she was awarded the National Film Award for Best Actress. Her commercial achievements in Ninne Pelladata, Kadhal Desam, Saajan Chale Sasural, and Jeet also occurred in 1996. Tabassum On November 4, 1971 , Fatima Hashmi was born into a Muslim family in Hyderabad, to Jamal Ali Hashmi and Rizwana. Her father, a well-received performer in Pakistan during the 1970s, relocated to India to live with her mother.
He moved out when she was three years old. Her maternal grandparents were retired academics who oversaw a school; her mother was a teacher. Her grandmother taught English literature, while her grandfather, Mohammed Ahsan, was a maths professor.
Tabu attended St. Ann’s High School in Hyderabad’s Vijayanagar Colony for her education. After relocating to Mumbai in 1983, she spent two years as a student at St. Xavier’s College. After a ten-year hiatus, she returned to Telugu cinema in 2020, appearing in Trivikram Srinivas and Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. With its successful run at number one on the Indian box office in 2020 , Tabu’s performance earned her the Telugu Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. In addition, she costarred with Saif Ali Khan in the family-friendly film Jawaani Jaaneman (2020), the first time the two had shared a screen after twenty years. Tabu Disagreement
While filming Hum Saath Saath Hain with co-stars Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam Kothari in the Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, Tabu was accused in 1998 of poaching two blackbucks from the fringes of Kankani village. Tabu was accused by a lower court of violating the IPC and the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 along with the others.
Tabu had filed a revision plea with a sessions court, clearing her of violating both the Indian Penal Code’s Section 149 (unlawful assembly of persons) and Section 51 (causing injury to wildlife) as well as the Indian Penal Code’s Section 147 (penalty for rioting). After that, the Rajasthan State Government filed a revision appeal with the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur, adding Section 149 against the woman once more—a provision that had previously been removed.
Tabu was called by the Jodhpur court in December 2012, along with all the other accused, to begin the trial on February 4, 2013, using the amended allegations. Despite being found not guilty in the blackbuck poaching case on April 5, 2018 , Tabu received a notice from the Rajasthan High Court on March 11, 2019, contesting her acquittal.
