Indian actress Nusrat Jahan Ruhi was born on January 8, 1990, and she primarily performs in Bengali films. As a Trinamool Congress candidate in 2019, Jahan entered the political arena and won election as a Member of Parliament for the Lok Sabha from the Basirhat constituency. Jahan made his movie debut in Shotru, directed by Raj Chakraborty.

Nusrat Jahan Childhood And Schooling

On January 8, 1990, Jahan was born into a Muslim Bengali household in Calcutta, West Bengal, India. His parents were Muhammad Shah Jahan and Sushma Khatun. She attended Bhawanipur College in Kolkata after completing her education at Our Lady Queen of the Missions School in Kolkata, where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree.

After taking first place in the 2010 “Fair One Miss Kolkata” beauty pageant, Jahan began her modelling career.

She debuted in Tollywood with Jeet in the 2011 movie Shotru. Following a year-long break, she costarred with Dev in Khoka 420 (2013), her second film. She starred opposite Ankush Hazra in Khiladi that same year. She made appearances in two hit songs that went on to become chartbusters: “Chicken Tandoori” from Action and “Desi Chhori” from Yoddha – The Warrior. Jahan then made an appearance alongside Rahul Bose, Rituparna Sengupta, and Payel Sarkar in Sondhey Namaar Aagey.

She starred alongside Ankush Hazra in the comedy Jamai 420 in 2015. The cast also included Payel Sarkar, Mimi Chakraborty, Soham Chakraborty, and Hiran Chatterjee. Alongside Dev and Sayantika Banerjee, Jahan contributed to the theme song for the “Midnapoor Mighities” team in the Bengali Celebrity League. Har Har Byomkesh, starring Abir Chatterjee, Sohini Sarkar, and Rachel White, was her next and final movie of 2015; it was released in December. The film was a big hit at the box office.

She costarred with Jeet and Sayantika Banerjee in the 2016 film Power, directed by Rajiv Kumar Biswas. She co-starred with Dev, Jisshu Sengupta, Ankush Hazra, Mimi Chakraborty, Koushani Mukherjee, and Sayantika Banerjee in the comedy Kelor Kirti that same year. Jahan starred as a guest in the 2018 movie Uma before going on to play a part in Birsa Dasgupta’s Crisscross, which also starred Mimi Chakraborty, Priyanka Sarkar, Sohini Sarkar, and Jaya Ahsan. She was then chosen by Rajiv Kumar Biswas to star alongside Shakib Khan and Sayantika Banerjee in the movie Naqaab. She performed a dance to the song Joy Joy Durga Maa, which was written and performed by Jeet Gannguli. Mamata Banerjee, the president of the Trinamool Congress party and the chief minister of West Bengal, declared on March 12, 2019, that Jahan would run in the upcoming general election of 2019 from the Basirhat Lok Sabha Constituency. She defeated BJP contender Sayantan Basu by a margin of 350,000 votes to win.

Kader Khan and Jahan dated for roughly “three or four” years. He was linked to Suzette Jordan’s gang rape in 2012. Jahan insisted that they broke up five months prior to the incident and stayed close friends in the wake of it. Concerned attorneys urged that Jahan be taken into custody after accusing her of providing sanctuary to Kader Khan, an escaped criminal. On June 19, 2019, Jahan and businessman Nikhil Jain wed in a lavish ceremony in Turkey. Afterwards, a reception was held, which was attended by a number of celebrities, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her friend, the actress and co-member of parliament, Mimi Chakraborty.

Afterwards, Jahan stated that “it was nothing more than a live-in relationship” and that the marriage was not lawful. Later, a court in Kolkata declared that the marriage between Jahan and Jain was not legitimate.

Actor Yash Dasgupta and Jahan started dating, however as of December 2021, their marriage status is still unknown. In August 2021, Jahan gave birth to a child, at a private hospital in Kolkata. According to reports, Dasgupta was listed as the child’s father on the birth certificate.
