Niilam attended Ahmedabad’s H. L. College of Commerce. Niilam Paanchal first made appearances in a number of Gujarati-language television programs, such as Saraswatichandra on Zee Gujarati, Ek Daal Na Pankhi on Doordarshan, Pati Patni Ane Vavajodu, Geet Gunjan, Yuva Sangram, and Parnya Atle Pati Gaya on ETV Gujarati.[Reference required]

The Gujarati film Sneh Na Sagpan from 2007 was her feature film debut. Her performance in the Gujarati period drama film Hellaro in 2019 got her a Special Jury Award in addition to the National Film Award for Best Feature Film at the 66th National Film Awards. On November 8, 2019, the movie was premiered in theaters in India to acclaim, and viewers seemed to enjoy her performance.
