Actress Bhumika Chawla was born Rachna Chawla on August 21, 1978, and her main roles have been in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil films.(Source: ) With the Telugu film Yuvakudu (2000), Chawla made her acting debut. Bhumika Chawla went on to achieve fame with Kushi (2001), for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu.

Chawla went on to act in the commercially successful Roja Kootam (2002) after making her Tamil film debut in Badri (2001).

With hits like Kushi (2001), Vasu (2002), Okkadu (2003), Missamma (2003) (for which she received the Nandi Award for Best Actress), Simhadri (2003), Naa Autograph (2004), Satyabhama (2007), and Anasuya (2007), Chawla made a name for herself as a leading actress in Telugu cinema. Bhumika Chawla was nominated for Filmfare Best Actress – Telugu for Sathyabhana and Anasuya. After that, she primarily acted in supporting roles in films such as Sita Ramam (2022), U Turn (2018), Middle Class Abbayi (2017), and Idhe Maa Katha (2021).

With Tere Naam (2003), Chawla made her Bollywood film debut and was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Bhumika Chawla was to feature in numerous bombs, but two of them, Gandhi, My Father (2007) and M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016), turned out to be hits. Bhumika Chawla Early Years

In New Delhi, India, on August 21, 1978, Chawla was born into a Punjabi family and finished her education there. Her father was an Army officer in the past. Bhumika has an older brother and a younger sister.

In the Telugu cinema industry, Chawla made her screen debut costarring with actor Sumanth in the feature film Yuvakudu (2000). Bhumika Chawla acted in several Telugu films after her second release, Kushi (2001), in which she starred opposite Pawan Kalyan and which was a box office hit. These films included Okkadu (2003) with Mahesh Babu and Simhadri (2003) with Jr. NTR, which became two of the highest grossing Telugu films of the year. Bhumika Chawla also made her debut in the Tamil film business, costarring with actor Vijay in the 2001 film Badri. Bhumika Chawla then starred in her second Tamil film, Roja Kootam (2002). Her portrayal of a cancer-stricken entrepreneur in Missamma (2003) received praise. She received the Nandi Award for Best Actress after being nominated for the FilmfareAward for Best Actress-Telugu.

Following several critically and commercially successful Southern films, Chawla co-starred with Salman Khan in her debut Bollywood film, Tere Naam (2003). Among the highest grossing films of the year was this one. Her performance in the movie earned her several compliments and multiple nominations for Best Debut at various award shows. It was a critical success. Bhumika Chawla received a Zed Cine Awards medal for Best Debut and was nominated for her first Filmfare Best Actress Award.

In addition to starring in the Telugu fantasy film Mayabazar and playing a significant part in the Hindi film Family – Ties of Blood, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, Chawla made her Tamil film debut in 2006 in Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, costarring real-life couple Surya and Jyothika. After that, she played the lead roles in the Telugu films Satyabhama, in which she played a woman with short-term memory loss, and Anasuya, a crime thriller, and in the Bhojpuri film Gangotri (2007 film), a follow-up to the popular Bhojpuri film Ganga (2006), again starring Amitabh Bachchan. Bhumika Chawla also appeared in the Hindi film Gandhi, My Father as Gulab Gandhi. Bhumika Chawla won praise from critics for her portrayal of an investigative journalist covering a serial killer case in the 2007 film Anasuya. Bhumika Chawla received the Santosham Best Actress Award and was a nominee for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Telugu.

Bhumika Chawla debuted in the Malayalam film industry with Mohanlal in Bhramaram in 2008, after making her debut in the Punjabi film industry with Gurdas Maan in Yaariyan. She is currently working on six films in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, including Yagam in Telugu and Thangar Bachan’s Kalavadiya Pozhudugal in Tamil, both starring Prabhu Deva. In the 2016 film M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, she also made an appearance. In the film, she played the role of MS Dhoni’s sister . Bhumika Chawla completed her MCA in Telugu in 2017, for which she was awarded the Zed Apsara Best Supporting Actress and the SIIMA Best Supporting Actress awards. Bhumika Chawla also made an appearance in the highly praised Telugu – Tamil U Turn.

In 2018, she made her web series debut with Bhram, costarring with Sanjay Suri and Kalki Koechlin. Bhumika Chawla is currently filming Seetimaar and Idhe Maa Katha and Operation Majnu, two Telugu films that are slated for release in 2021. The next project starring Chawla is the sports action film “Seetimaarr.” under Sampath Nandi’s direction. In addition, Gopichand, Tamannaah, and Digangana Suryavanshi are part of the film’s star cast.

Bhumika Chawla Individual Life

On October 21, 2007, Chawla got married to her longtime partner and yoga instructor Bharat Thakur in a Gurdwara in Devlali, Nashik. In February 2014, a boy was born to the couple.
