Born on August 29, 1977, Vishal Krishna Reddy, also known by his stage name Vishal, is an Indian actor and producer who primarily works in Tamil cinema. Vishal, who was born to film producer G. K. Reddy, is well-known for his action movie roles.Through his production firm, Vishal Film Factory, he also makes films.

In 2006, Vishal received the Kalaimamani award in recognition of his contributions to Tamil film. Vishal started out in the film business helping Arjun as an assistant director. After turning to acting, he starred in the romantic thriller Chellamae (2004) as his first leading part. Vishal later appeared in action films Sandakozhi, Thimiru, Thaamirabharani, and Malaikottai.

On August 29, 1977, Vishal was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, into a Telugu-speaking family. G. K. Reddy, his father, is a businessman and a producer of Telugu and Tamil motion pictures. A producer and actor in his own right, Vikram Krishna is his older brother and has worked on several of Vishal’s films. His family comes from the Andhra Pradesh town of Nellore.

Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai is where Vishal completed his education. After that, he received his degree in visual communications from Chennai’s Loyola College .

Career in acting: 2004–2011

Vishal helped actor-director Arjun Sarja with his project Vedham (2001). Later, a producer contracted Vishal to play an actor in Gandhi Krishna’s Chellamae (2004) after noticing him on the set of the movie. Vishal accepted the part, trained by participating in Koothu-P-Pattarai to improve his acting abilities, and portrayed Raghunandan, a protagonist whose wife is abducted by her childhood buddy. His performance was called “apt” by one critic, but “there was plenty left to hone” His next movie, Sandakozhi (2005), starred N. Linguswamy, an assistant director who had previously worked for his father’s production company.

Council of Tamil Film Producers (2017–present)

On April 2, 2017, the Tamil Film Producers Council held an election in which he was chosen President. Aside from this, Vishal founded an anti-piracy cell in 2014 and has been a strong supporter of the fight against internet piracy.

In October 2018, he debuted on television as the host of the Sun TV chat show Sun Naam Oruvar.

Vishal Career In Politics

Vishal announced his candidature as an independent for the Chennai by-election in the Radhakrishnan Nagar seat, which became vacant after Jayalalithaa passed away in December 2017. However, his nomination was turned down.

In the unreleased Sundar C. film Madha Gaja Raja, Vishal made his playback singing debut. Vishal established Vishal Film Factory, his own production company, in 2013. Under this name, he has acted in, produced, and distributed a variety of films. Pandiya Naadu (2013), Kathakali (2016), Thupparivaalan (2017), Irumbu Thirai (2018), and Veerame Vaagai Soodum (2022) are a few of these flicks. He received the SIIMA Best Debutant Producer Award for Pandiya Naadu.

In October 2015, Vishal was chosen to be the Nadigar Sangam’s General Secretary after starting a protest against the previous committee. Due to his remarks criticising the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC), he was expelled from the organisation. Vishal was elected President of the Tamil Film Producers Council later in April 2017.

Vishal Disagreement

When Vishal attempted to break through the lock of the Tamil Film Producers Council in T. Nagar, Chennai, in December 2018, he was apprehended by the police. Film producers locked down the council, claiming that Vishal had not kept his word during the 2017 elections.
