Born on July 30, 1973, Sonu Sood is an Indian actor, model, humanitarian, philanthropist, and film producer who primarily works in Telugu and Hindi films, with a little amount of work in Tamil and Kannada. In addition to his humanitarian efforts, particularly during the COVID-19 Pandemic, he is well-known for playing the antagonist in the majority of his films.

For his role in the Telugu hit Arundhati, he was awarded the 2009 Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu and the Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Award for Best Villain. For his role in the Bollywood film Dabangg, he won the IIFA Award for Best role in a Negative Role and the Apsara Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role in 2010. For his performance in Julayi, he was awarded the 2012 SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role (Telugu).[Reference required]

Sonu Sood founded Shakti Sagar Productions, a production company named for his father, Shakti Sagar Sood, in July of 2016. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) selected Sood for the ‎SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award’ in September 2020 in recognition of his humanitarian efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sonu Sood Career

Kallazhagar and Nenjinile, Sood’s first two Tamil-language films, marked the beginning of his career in 1999. In the 2000 Telugu movie Hands Up!, he then made an appearance as an antagonist. He debuted in Majunu in 2001. Then, in 2002, he started playing Bhagat Singh in Hindi films, starting with Shaheed-E-Azam. As the brother of Abhishek Bachchan, Sood gained popularity in the 2004 film Yuva directed by Mani Ratnam and the 2005 film Aashiq Banaya Aapne.

With the debut of Super in Tollywood in 2005, he gained further prominence for his contributions. As a high-tech thief, Nagarjuna played his co-star in this movie. Athadu was his next movie. Sonu Sood played the adversary in Ashok once more in 2006. Although it didn’t do well financially, he was already well-known from Telugu films.

Sonu Sood portrayed Pasupathy in the 2009 film Arundhati. He portrayed Rajkumar Sujamal in the Ashutosh Gowariker-directed Indian epic film Jodha Akbar after the Tollywood release of Arundhati. He portrayed criminal Bada in the 2009 film Anjaneyulu, costarring Ravi Teja.

Sonu Sood appeared in another Telugu movie, Ek Niranjan, in which he once more played the antagonist, in the second half of 2009. He costarred with Salman Khan in Abhinav Kashyap’s Dabangg (2010) as the film’s main antagonist. Vishnuvardhana (2011), his Kannada film debut with Sudeep, was released to favourable reviews for his performance. The state election commission named him “the state icon of Punjab”.

Sonu Sood presented the popular reality show MTV Roadies – Season 18 in South Africa in April 2022. In retrospect, he noted that the show’s “magic” lay in the fact that it required authenticity, and that each and every day of our 45-day stay in South Africa was a teaching moment for him.
