Born on April 23, 1969, Manoj Bajpayee, often spelt Manoj Bajpai, is an Indian actor who mostly performs in Telugu and Tamil films in addition to his work in Hindi cinema. Recognised as one of the best actors in Hindi or Bollywood, he has won two Asia Pacific Screen Awards, six Filmfare Awards, and three National Film Awards.

Born in Belwa, a tiny village in the West Champaran region of Bihar, close to the city of Bettiah, Bajpayee had acting aspirations since he was a young child. At seventeen, he moved to Delhi and applied to the National School of Drama, only to have his application turned down four times. While attending college, he kept performing in plays.
