Born on August 6, 1971, Abhishek Kapoor is an Indian film director, writer, producer, and former actor who specialises in Hindi cinema. His credits include the musical dramas Rock On!! (2008), Kai Po Che! (2013), Fitoor (2016), Kedarnath (2018), and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021), which earned him nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Director.

First acting role and first directing effort (1996–2006)
His acting career began in 1996 with the Ajay Kashyap-directed films Aashique Mastane, starring Monica Bedi, and Vipin Handa’s Uff! Yeh Mohabbat, starring Twinkle Khanna.

Abhishek Kapoor developed and directed Fitoor, a musical love drama in 2016 that was adapted from Charles Dickens’s 1861 novel Great Expectations. Critics gave the movie, which starred Tabu, Katrina Kaif, and Aditya Roy Kapur, mixed to positive reviews at first. The soundtrack, cinematography, production design, costumes, and cast performances all garnered praise, and Tabu’s performance in particular was highly praised. However, the screenplay and pacing were criticised. But it turned out to be a lacklustre box office success.
