Neha Bhasin is an Indian singer-songwriter who was born on November 18, 1982. Neha Bhasin is well-known for her playback work in independent Indian pop and punjabi folk music songs as well as in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi film.

With her songs “Jag Ghoomeya” (Hindi) and “Paani Ravi Da” (Punjabi), Bhasin has won two Filmfare Awards and been nominated for seven more in other languages.

At the age of nine, Bhasin won her first-ever singing competition trophy, performing Mariah Carey’s song Hero. She had always wanted to be a pop star since she was a young child In order to learn different dance forms, she enrolled in Shiamak Davar’s dance academy. She also trained with Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan in classical vocals.
At the age of 18, Neha shot to fame after being chosen for the five-girl pop group Viva as part of Channel V’s nationwide talent competition, Coke V popstars.

Bhasin tried out for Channel V’s Coke [V] Popstars in 2002 while she was a student at Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi. She went on to win the competition, and Viva, India’s first all-girl music group, was formed by the winners. Seema Ramchandani, Pratichee Mohapatra, Mahua Kamat, and Anushka Manchanda were the other band members.

In 2007, Neha made her Bollywood debut with the song “Kuch Khass Hai,” which also earned her a nomination for the 2008 Filmfare award. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s debut Tamil song “Pesugiren Pesugiren,” which Bhasin sang, earned her the 2008 Vijay Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
