Indian playback singer Kedarnath Bhattacharya, better known by his stage name Kumar Sanu, was born on October 20, 1957. His primary genre of singing is Hindi film songs. He has performed songs in Bengali, Marathi, Nepali, Assamese, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Manipuri, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Punjabi, Odia, Chhattisgarhi, Urdu, Pali, English, and Bengali, his mother tongue, in addition to Hindi.

Kumar Sanu holds the record for winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer five times in a row, from 1991 to 1995, in both West Bengal and Bangladesh. Since 1993, he has maintained the Guinness World Record for recording the most songs in a single day.
In 2009, the Indian government granted him the Padma Shri for his services to Indian music and film. The BBC’s “Top 40 Bollywood Soundtracks of all time” includes numerous of his songs.
Kumar Sanu Childhood
Pashupati Bhattacharya, the father of Kumar Sanu, was a composer and vocalist. He was born and raised in Vikrampur, which is now in Bangladesh. In 1983, Kumar Sanu began his career in playback as Sanu Bhattacharya. He starred in Shibli Sadiq’s 1986 Bangladeshi film Teen Kanya . His first well-known Bollywood song was featured in Hero Hiralal (1988).
Sanu was first introduced to Kalyanji in 1989 by Jagjit Singh at Vimal Bunglow in Mumbai. After his hero Kishore Kumar, Sanu adopted the name “Kumar Sanu” instead of “Sanu Bhattacharya” at their advice. Sanu is a composer of music for several Indian films. The two most notable ones are Yeh Sunday Kyun Aata Hai and Utthaan. He received vocal assistance for his songs from Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Anuradha Paudwal, Sapna Mukherjee, Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam, Sadhana Sargam, Sudesh Bhonsle, Shaan, Shreya Ghosal, Hema Sardesai, Sunidhi Chauhan, and several more. In addition to writing and singing movie soundtracks, he has expressed interest in making movies. He produced Utthaan, his debut Hindi film, in 2006. He is currently collaborating on a new project called Yeh Sunday Kyun Aata Hai with fellow producer Rakesh Bhhatia. The movie is centred on the lives of four kids who work as shoe polishers at a train station to support themselves while living on the streets of Mumbai.
Mithun Chakraborty will play the main character in the movie. Sanu recently sung for the Bangladeshi-Bengali film Hason Raja, which was helmed by Ruhul Amin, a filmmaker residing in the UK. Sanu is a trustee and brand ambassador for the cerebral palsy nonprofit Bishwa Bandhan . In Karol Bagh, Delhi, Sanu founded Kumar Sanu Vidya Niketan, a primary school for impoverished kids . Books and clothing are provided to the pupils at no cost.
With two young vocalists and music director Vaibhav Saxena, Sanu worked on “Mohabbat Mein tere sanam” in 2022. The song was released and distributed globally by the new-age record label Vusic Records.
