Renowned Indian fashion designer Sandeep Khosla is a co-owner of the Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla brand. His ability to blend European cut silhouettes with Indian craftsmanship and textile history is what has made him most famous. His trademark is fusing modern design with ancient aesthetics.
Sandeep Khosla shared the 2002 National Film Award for Best Costume Design with Neeta Lulla, Abu Jani, and Reza Shariffi for their roles in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bollywood film Devdas.

For awards night, a lot of celebrities from over the world have chosen Khosla’s designs. Judi Dench wore one of Khosla’s creations to the 2012 BAFTA Awards, and she has since worn his clothing to subsequent award ceremonies. Khosla created the costumes for the 1999 film The World Is Not Enough.
Khosla has recently undertaken a number of interior design projects. He has created interior designs for residences, resorts, restaurants (like The Aish at the Park in Hyderabad), hotels (like The Sofala in Goa), and even started doing event designs for Indian weddings.

Khosla, who was raised in a Punjabi household and was born in Kapurthala, attended The Doon School before going into his family’s leather and clothing company. After completing his education at a Jalandhar college, he studied for a year in a Chennai leather institute before moving to Delhi.
He began his career here as a buyer for an export firm before setting up Limelight, a tiny store. But soon after, he moved to Mumbai and began working with Xerxes Bhathena, a costume designer for movies. As it happened, Abu Jani had been helping Bhatena as well. Upon meeting, they decided to collaborate.
They opened a store called Mata Hari in 1986. They joined Tarun Tahiliani for his multi-brand boutique Ensemble in 1987 as one of five designers following their work’s appearance on the cover of a renowned Bombay magazine. Their first famous client was actress Dimple Kapadia, who subsequently introduced them to other well-known names including Jaya Bachchan and Parmeshwar Godrej.
In 1993, their furniture collection made its premiere at Mumbai’s Bajaj Gallery. With a fashion show in 2012, the label Abhu Jani-Sandeep Khosla celebrated 25 years in the fashion industry.
