Suresh Raina bowls off-spin occasionally and is an aggressive middle-order batsman who is left-handed. The second-youngest player to captain India in history is him. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he captained the Gujarat Lions and was the vice-captain of the Chennai Super Kings. Suresh Raina is the first batsman from India to score a century in each of the three international cricket forms.

Trilokchand Raina, the father of Suresh Raina, was a military officer who worked in an ordinance plant. During the 1990s Kashmiri Hindu exodus, his family fled “Rainawari” in Jammu and Kashmir union territory of India and relocated to Muradnagar town, Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh. In 1998, Raina received training at the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College in Lucknow. Raina’s older brother is in the Indian Army, and he has a sister.

On 3 April 2015, Raina wed Priyanka. They are parents of two kids.

Ashok Kumar, Raina’s uncle, was beaten during a heist at their Punjabi home and did not make it out alive. To spend more time with his family, Raina opted out of the 2020 IPL season as a result. On August 5, 2022, Raina was awarded an honorary doctorate by Vels University. His Indian restaurant in Amsterdam will have its grand opening on July 12, 2023, and he will be serving real Indian food there.
