Parag Das, the father of Riyan, was a first-class cricket player for Railways and Assam. His father participated in Railways competitions in Guwahati and Kharagpur alongside MS Dhoni many years ago. In 2004, shortly before his debut in India, they even topped their department’s run-charts in the Inter-Railways competition held in Nagpur.

When Dhoni represented Bihar in the Ranji Trophy a few years back, they also faced off against one another. Dhoni was captaining the opposition and taking wickets on Parag’s IPL debut.
