Zeenat Khan, also known as Zeenat Aman, was born on November 19, 1951, and is an Indian actress, model, and former winner of beauty pageants. After becoming acknowledged for her modeling career, she entered beauty pageants at the age of 19, winning the 1970 Miss Asia Pacific International and Femina Miss India contests.

Her acting career started in 1970, and some of her early roles were in movies like Hulchul (1971) and The Evil Within (1970). Aman’s big debut came in 1971’s musical drama Haré Rama Haré Krishna, for which she took home the Best Supporting Actress Filmfare Award.
With appearances in Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), Roti Kapada Aur Makaan (1974), Ajanabee (1974), Warrant (1975), Chori Mera Kaam (1975), Dharam Veer (1977), Chhailla Babu (1977), Hum Kisise Kum Naheen (1977), and The Great Gambler (1979), Aman made a name for herself as a star actress in the 1970s. She received a nomination for the 1978 Filmfare Award’s Best Actress category for her performance in Satyam Shivam Sundaram. She played Roma in Don (1978) as well.

Zeenat Aman competed in the 1970 Femina Miss India pageant, winning the title of “First Princess” and placing second. Following his victories in these pageants, Aman started his acting career, making his debut with the critically panned film The Evil Within (1970) starring Dev Anand. Aman acted in two unsuccessful box office films in 1971: Hungama, starring Helen, Vinod Khanna, Kishore Kumar, Mehmood, and Helen, and Hulchul, in which he played a small part.

After actress Zaheeda declined the part, actor and director Dev Anand quickly approached Aman to play Jasbir/Janice in his 1971 musical drama Haré Rama Haré Krishna. The movie was well-received by critics and audiences alike, and it marked Aman’s breakthrough. For her work in the movie, she was honored with the Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award for Best Actress (Hindi) and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress .
2000s
Following a decade of inaction, Aman made a brief appearance in the film Bhopal Express. It wasn’t until 2003 that she made another movie appearance in Boom, where she played Alice. 2010s
Aman played Rebecca in the 2010 film Dunno Y… Na Jaane Kyon. The movie caused a lot of controversy when it first debuted at national film festivals and was derided by reviewers for its portrayal of homosexuality. But the movie was a hit at film festivals, and it eventually had a small theatrical run. Aman sang the songs Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo and Aap Jaisa Koi in the movie. Later on, it gave rise to the 2014 follow-up Dunno Y2… Life Is a Moment, in which Aman starred. Aman was chosen to play Roma in the 2012 movie Strings of Passion. Although reviews for the series were mostly lukewarm, critics appreciated Aman’s performance.
Aman became a member of the cast of the movie Panipat in June 2019 . In the movie, she played Sakina Begum, a supporting role which director Ashutosh Gowariker called “a feisty character leading her province of Hoshiyarganj.” When it opened in theaters in December 2019, it was a box office bust. Aman talked about her present work in the film industry in a September 2019 interview with Eastern Eye. She stated, “There are no great age appropriate roles for ladies my age.” That’s all there is to it—they are really rare in Hindi film—but I wouldn’t turn down a truly amazing job.”
2020s
It was revealed in February 2020 that Aman would be making a theatrical comeback by playing in a play about Kasturba Gandhi. Her first major part since the 1980s was revealed to be in the upcoming murder thriller Margaon: The Closed File in January 2021. In the Agatha Christie-inspired movie, Aman played the “head of an Anglo Indian family who is an independent woman, a mother as well as an entrepreneur.”
Zeenat Aman Individual Life
Aman wed the actor Sanjay Khan in 1978; Khan was already married and the father of four children; the marriage was dissolved in 1979 as a result of Sanjay Khan’s physical abuse and beatings of Aman. After Abdullah’s filming was completed, she was filming B R Chopra’s “Insaf Ka Tarazu” when she received a call from Khan asking to discuss reshooting a few scenes for Abdullah. She told him that she was already committed to the “Insaf Ka Tarazu” shoot, but upon hearing this, he became enraged and accused her of adultery.
After learning of the charges, she left B R Chopra and went to see him at a hotel where he was having a party in one of the suites. He was so angry when he saw her that he stormed into a room in the suite and gave her a violent beating that left her with numerous injuries, most notably to her right eye. His wife supposedly joined him and saw this, encouraging him to keep beating Aman. Aman claimed thereafter that she acts as though the incident never happened and that it left her with a lazy eye.
After that, in 1985, Aman wed the actor Mazhar Khan, with whom he stayed wedded until his passing in 1998. She has two kids with Mazhar: composer Zahaan Khan and film director Azaan Khan, who helmed the heist movie Bankster . Mumbai is where the family resides. Aman claimed to be unhappy in her marriage to Mazhar, disclosing in 1999 during an appearance on Rendezvous with Simi Garewal:
Mazhar was never interested in seeing me develop as a person or an artist. He’s always wanted me at home, with the kids. Even though I realized I had made a grave error during our first year of marriage, I chose to live by it and try to make it work. I tried for a full twelve years to make it work. For me, there was no hope for the future. In those twelve years, there was not a single instance of joy or happiness. Still, I gave it my best go at working.
Aman filed a rape lawsuit in February 2018 against businessman Sarfaraz, also known as Aman Khanna. Khanna was imprisoned after accusations were made against him for allegedly raping Aman multiple times, robbing, stalking, and harassing Aman. It was stated that the aforementioned instances happened between 2011 and 2016.
