Actress Tillotama Shome was born in India on June 25, 1979. renowned for her contributions to a number of indie film projects. Tillotama Shome was honoured with the 66th Filmfare Awards’ Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress in 2021 for her portrayal of the film Sir’s housemaid Ratna, a part that is very commendable.

Tillotama Shome Early Life

Shome was born to Anupam and Baisakhi Shome in Kolkata. Because her father served in the Indian Air Force, Shome was raised all throughout India.

Tillotama Shome Career

Shohome enrolled in Arvind Gaur’s Asmita theatre troupe after graduating from Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi. Tillotama Shome relocated to New York in the autumn of 2004 to enrol in New York University’s master’s degree in educational theatre. Tillotama Shome stayed there until her vacation trip to Mumbai in February 2008. Tillotama Shome then moved to Mumbai and, in May 2008, returned to India after finishing a few unfinished tasks in New York. She also instructed theatre to kill inmates at a maximum security US jail in New York.

Tillotama Shome starred as Alice in Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding, her feature film debut, and as Deepa in Florian Gallenberger’s Shadows of Time (Schatten der Zeit). In Claire McCarthy’s Australian film The Waiting City, she portrayed a nun. Mahashweta Devi played a social worker in Italo Spinelli’s Gangor, which was based on her novel.

Tillotama Shome also held a job at Tasher Desh, owned by Qaushiq Mukherjee. In Dibakar Banerjee’s Hindi political thriller Shanghai, she portrayed Mrs. Ahmadi. “Shome created one of this year’s most heartbreaking performances in a Hindi film,” Rediff commented about her Shanghai performance.

Her other roles have been as Lara in Meneka Das’s Little Box of Sweets, Jaya in Afia Nathaniel’s short film Long After, and Miraal in Tanuj Chopra’s Butterfly. In the New Horizons Competition of the seventh Abu Dhabi Film Festival (ADFF), she took home the best actress title for her portrayal of a girl who is raised as a guy in Qissa. Julia Wildschutt, a Norwegian actress, also shared the title with her.

Tillotama Shome Personal Life

Shouheba Bachchan is Jaya Bachchan’s niece-in-law after getting married to Kunal Ross, Jaya’s nephew.
