Lakshmi Rai, also known by her professional name Raai Laxmi, is an Indian actress and model who primarily performs in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada.

Ram Rai and Manjula Rai moved to Belgaum after their daughter Rai Laxmi was born in Bangalore, Karnataka. Raai Laxmi is a member of the Kutchi community of Saurashtra.

Initial career years (2005–2010)
Laxmi debuted in a movie in 2005 with the Tamil flick Karka Kasadara. Raai Laxmi then starred in other Tamil films, including the romantic film Nenjai Thodu (2007), the action-masala film Dharmapuri (2006) directed by Perarasu, and the comedy film Kundakka Mandakka (2005) starring R. Parthiban. In 2005, she starred with Shiva Rajkumar in her first Kannada film, Valmiki.

Raai Laxmi started starring in more sombre films in 2008, including Jeeva’s action thriller Dhaam Dhoom and the drama Velli Thirai, in which she had the lead role. For her performance as a lawyer in the latter, she got praise. “The latter (Raai Laxmi) sizzles even as she is supposed to play the court professional who is caught in the web of smuggling drugs,” a Behindwoods review stated. Raai Laxmi received a nomination for her first Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actress category.
In 2007, she made her Malayalam film debut costarring opposite Mohanlal in the film Rock n’ Roll. She went on to star in a number of popular films after that, including Annan Thampi (2008), 2 Harihar Nagar (2009), Evidam Swargamanu (2009) with Mohanlal, and Chattambinadu (2009) with Mammootty. In 2009, she acted in three Tamil films: Naan Avanillai 2, Muthirai, and Vaamanan.
In the 2009 film Vaamanan, she portrayed an opulent supermodel. 2010 saw her appear in three motion pictures. Raai Laxmi played a cowgirl in the Tamil film Irumbukkottai Murattu Singam and made cameos during song scenes in two of them, Ghost House Inn and Pen Singam.
Success and public recognition (2011–2014)
2011 saw the release of Christian Brothers by Raai Lakshmi. Her next two films were produced in Tamil: the action thriller Mankatha, starring Ajith Kumar, and the comedy-horror Kanchana, both directed by Venkat Prabhu. In the latter, she portrayed a villain, which the critics found endearing. As a result of Kanchana’s popularity, she was brought on to play the same part in Kalpana (2012), the Kannada version.[14] Irumbu Kuthirai, Aranmanai (Tamil), and Rajadhi Raja (Malayalam) were her 2014 motion pictures.
Current work (from 2016 onward
Raai Laxmi signed two Tamil films, Sowkarpettai and Bangalore Naatkal, in 2016. Following a short interval, she appeared in Pawan Kalyan’s Telugu film Sardaar Gabbar Singh (2016) as his opponent for her second item number. The Hindi flick Akira marked her film debut

In his 150th film Khaidi No. 150 (2017), she signed on to do her fourth item number with Chiranjeevi . Later, she starred with Raghava Lawrence in the Tamil version of Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva (2017). In Julie 2, her second Hindi film, Raai Laxmi played the lead character (2017).
With the release of Oru Kuttanadan Blog, starring Mammootty, she returned to Malayalam film in 2018. Raai Laxmi acted in two unsuccessful horror films in 2019: Where Is the Venkatalakshmi in Telugu and Neeya 2 in Tamil. In the Bollywood movie Officer Arjun Singh IPS Batch 2000, she also starred. Raai Laxmi acted in the Tamil horror film Cinderella in 2021.
