Later, she was taken into custody. She was placed in judicial detention on December 16 and kept there for nine days, until December 24. She was granted bail and released on December 17.

In June 2020, Rohatgi’s account was suspended by Twitter for a week after she posted a string of offensive tweets criticizing Muslim women who were taking part in demonstrations against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. In July 2020, her account was suspended indefinitely. A Mumbai Metropolitan Magistrate court ordered a technical investigation after noting that the tweets “show disregard against Muslim women and Community” on the face of it.
