Bhasin is the older of two siblings and was born in New Delhi. His father was an Indian Air Force officer . His mother was employed for Aptech Computers and the Confederation of Indian Industry. His younger brother works for Cathay Pacific as a pilot.

Both his father and grandpa were Indian Air Force fighter pilots. He took part in a variety of extracurricular activities while attending school. In school, he was a basketball player, and in college, he was heavily involved in theatre and dance.

When Tahir starred in four short films for the Film and Television Institute of India and made appearances in Indian television commercials for brands like Samsung and Canon cameras, he made the decision to pursue acting professionally in 2012. He had a brief cameo appearance in Sanjay Khanduri’s comedy-thriller Kismat Love Paisa Dilli that same year. Following a seven-second cameo in Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che! (2013) as senior Ali, the movie’s cricket player, Tahir starred in Devika Bhagat’s love comedy One by Two (2014).

Alongside Rani Mukerji, Tahir made his Bollywood film debut in 2014’s crime thriller Mardaani, directed by Pradeep Sarkar. Alongside Taapsee Pannu, he acted in the Netflix movie Looop Lapeta, which went to the top of the non-English film charts globally and Netflix India’s charts. Tahir received overwhelming praise from critics for his portrayal of Satya. KoiMoi declared, “After showcasing his impeccable acting abilities in Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein, Tahir Raj Bhasin finds himself in a two-balls, two-sixes dilemma. He severely underplays Satya without going too far to be considered a caricature.” According to a CNBC TV18 review, Tahir Raj Bhasin is now having a dream run. He’s already receiving praise for his roles in Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein and Ranjish Hi Sahi, two web series. As Satya in Looop Lapeta, he’s agile and wild.”

Bhasin said in a 2015 interview that he was in relationships when he was in school and college, but that he no longer has time for them now that he is devoted to acting. Bhasin supported the Smile Foundation charity while walking in the ninth iteration of the fashion event “Ramp For Champs” in 2015. The event’s proceeds went towards educating girls. Tahir Raj Bhasin came in at number 20 on GQ India’s list of the “30 most influential young Indians” in 2022.
