Actor, host, and model Sidharth Shukla was born in India on December 12, 1980, and passed away on September 2, 2021. He made appearances in Hindi films and TV shows. His roles in Dil Se Dil Tak, Broken But Beautiful 3, and Balika Vadhu made him well-known. He became the winner of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 7 and Bigg Boss 13 reality shows. He was the host of India’s Got Talent and Savdhaan India.

In December 2005, he emerged victorious over 40 competitors hailing from Europe, Asia, and Latin America as the World’s Best Model. With a leading part in the 2008 production of Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na, he made his acting debut. Shukla debuted in Bollywood in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) in a supporting role.

Early life and professional beginnings, 1980–2007

Sidharth Shukla was born on December 12, 1980, into a Hindu Brahmin family in Bombay, which is now Mumbai. His parents are Rita Shukla, a homemaker, and Ashok Shukla, a civil engineer who works for the Reserve Bank of India. The original home of his family was in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. During his modelling career, he lost his father to a lung illness. He has two older sisters.

Shukla received his bachelor’s degree in interior design from Rachana Sansad School of Interior Design and attended St. Xavier’s High School in Fort, Mumbai. Shukla played football and tennis for his school and has described himself as an extremely active youngster. He participated in Festa Italiana by playing against the under-19 squad of Italian football club AC Milan while they were in Mumbai.

Shukla spent a few years working for an interior design firm following the completion of her bachelor’s degree in interior design. Shukla finished second in the Gladrags Manhunt and Megamodel Contest in 2004. He was featured in the Ila Arun song “Resham Ka Rumal” music video. He competed in the World’s Best Model competition in Turkey in 2005, representing India, and became the first Asian and Indian to win the title, defeating 40 other competitors from Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Following his victory, he starred in commercials for Digjam, ICICI, and Bajaj Avenger.

2008–2011: First appearance on television

He debuted as an actor in 2008, playing the lead opposite Aastha Chaudhary in the Sony TV series Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na. Shukla portrayed the devoted husband and father Shubh Ranawat. The programme concluded in February of 2009. He starred alongside Sanjeeda Sheikh and Aditi Tailang in Jaane Pehchaane Se… Ye Ajnabbi on Star One in 2009 as Veer Vardhan Singh. September 2010 marked the end of the programme.

Upon the conclusion of Jaane Pehchaane Se… Ye Ajnabbi, he further made appearances in more Aahat episodes. He starred alongside Pavitra Punia in Love U Zindagi on StarPlus in 2011 as Rahul Kashyap. The Bollywood film Jab We Met served as the inspiration for the play. He made an appearance in a CID episode as well.

2012–2014: Bollywood debut and breakthrough with Balika Vadhu

Shukla made an appearance in Balika Vadhu in 2012 as District Collector Shivraj Shekhar, opposing Pratyusha Banerjee and Toral Rasputra. His depiction of Shiv in the enduring social drama series Balika Vadhu on Colours TV brought him enormous acclaim and fame, along with multiple nominations and accolades. He was honoured at the Indian Television Academy (ITA) Awards as “GR8! Performer of the Year (Male)”. After his character, Shiv, lost his life in a terrorist fight in 2015, he quit the show.

Shukla took part in the 2013 season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6, a celebrity dance reality programme, and was eliminated in the eleventh week. Shukla has inked a three-film agreement with Dharma Productions. In the romantic comedy Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), Shukla makes his Bollywood debut in a supporting role as Angad Bedi, an NRI physician and the fiancé of Alia Bhatt’s character, the female lead. He won a Stardust Award in 2015 for “Breakthrough Supporting Performance (Male)” thanks to the movie.

2014–2018: Dil Se Dil Tak and Host of Khatron Ke Khiladi on television

Shukla was appointed Savdhaan India’s host in 2014. He began by telling tales of regular individuals who battled crime. Following his departure from Balika Vadhu in 2015, he co-hosted the sixth season of India’s Got Talent alongside Bharti Singh, which concluded in June of that same year. Shukla emerged victorious from the 2016 daredevil reality series Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 7. He co-hosted India’s Got Talent 7 alongside Bharti Singh that same year; the show’s season finale aired in July 2016.

Shukla made an appearance in the Kazakhstan film Business in Kazakhstan later in 2016 as the Indian businessman Mr. Chakraborty. Alongside co-stars Rashami Desai and Jasmin Bhasin in Dil Se Dil Tak in 2017, he played Parth Bhanushali. Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, a Bollywood film, served as inspiration for the series. He departed from the show in December 2017.

2019–2021: Broken But Beautiful 3 and Bigg Boss 13

He took part in the 2019 season of Bigg Boss 13, and the winner was announced in February 2020. Shukla was ranked number one by Ormax media for 20 weeks, making him the most popular competitor on Bigg Boss 13. According to polls, he was the most favoured Bigg Boss 13 contestant. He was the Bigg Boss 13 participant who tweeted the most.

In 2020, Shukla starred in two music videos for the songs “Bhula Dunga” and “Dil Ko Karaar Aaya” following her victory on Bigg Boss 13. Shukla took over as host of Bigg Boss 14’s 16th week’s “Weekend Ka Vaar” in January 2021. Salman Khan was absent from the show because of other obligations at work.

With the third season of the romance web series Broken But Beautiful, which is now available on ALTBalaji and MX Player, Shukla made his OTT debut as Agastya Rao alongside Sonia Rathee. Critics gave the series and Shukla’s performance positive reviews.

He was named one of Rediff’s Television’s Top 10 Actors in 2014 and received the Gold Awards’ Most Fit Actor award. Shukla arrived at number 34 on the Times of India’s 2013 list of the Most Desirable Men of the Year. He went on to rank 33rd in 2014, 44th in 2017, 41st in 2018, 15th in 2019, and 11th in 2020. In the 2017 and 2018 Times of India’s Top 20 Most Desirable Men on Television, he came in fifth and seventh place, respectively.

In the 2019 and 2020 Times 20 Most Desirable Men on Television, he came in first place. He was named the 2017 Most Stylish TV Personality by Hindustan Times. He was also ranked 10th on Trendrr’s exclusive list of the Top 12 Indian Male Hotties of 2017. This was later in the year

Shukla ranked ninth among Indian celebrities on Google in 2019. He was named The Times of India’s Charismatic TV Personality of the Year in 2021. Prior to the beginning of Bigg Boss 14, Sidharth was selected as the Bigg Boss Greatest Of All Time in a survey conducted by Colours TV. The poll included nominations from 16 well-liked contestants from all 13 of the previous seasons.

Shukla, who was forty years old, had a heart attack and passed away on September 2, 2021.
