Saroj Khan, an Indian dance choreographer for Hindi films, was born Nirmala Nagpal and lived from 22 November 1948 to 3 July 2020. Saroj Khan was born in India’s Bombay State, which is now Maharashtra. She was most well-known for the mujra dancing style. the first female Bollywood choreographer.

Over the course of her forty-year career, she choreographed over three thousand songs. On July 3, 2020, she suffered a sudden heart attack and died.
Saroj Khan Childhood And Professional Life
Originally named Nirmala Nagpal. Following India’s partition, her parents, Kishanchand Sadhu Singh and Noni Singh, immigrated there. At the age of three, she made her acting debut in the movie Nazarana as baby Shyama . In the late 1950s, she worked as a background dancer. She began her dance training while working as a choreographer for movies under B. Sohanlal.
Saroj Khan married him when she was 13 years old, but she was unaware that he was 43 years old and had four children from a previous marriage. The marriage parted after producing three children, one of whom passed away at a young age . She then married businessman Sardar Roshan Khan in 1975 and changed her name after becoming an Islamic convert. Sukaina Khan, the couple’s daughter, is well-known for managing a dancing school in Dubai.
Saroj Khan then transitioned to choreography, working as an assistant at first before landing her first job as a freelance choreographer in 1974 with actress Sadhana’s Geeta Mera Naam. She had to wait a long time for recognition, though, and it finally came with her work with Sridevi; their songs, including Hawa Hawai from Mr. India (1987), Main Teri Dushman, Dushman Tu Mera from Nagina (1986), and Mere Haathon Mein from Chandni (1989), are considered iconic Bollywood dance numbers.
Later, she collaborated with Madhuri Dixit, whose hits include “Ek Do Teen” from Tezaab (1988), Tamma Tamma Loge in Thanedaar (1990) and Dhak Dhak Karne Laga in Beta (1992). She went on to become one of the most prosperous choreographers in Bollywood after that.

Khan collaborated with Madhuri Dixit once more in Gulaab Gang in 2014. Saroj Khan served on the Rishihood University advisory board.
Saroj Khan Appearances On Television
Along with two other judges, Saroj Khan participated in the inaugural season of Nach Baliye, a reality dance competition that aired on STAR One, as a member of the jury. She made an additional appearance in the show’s second season. She most recently served as a judge on the Sony Entertainment Television (India) programme Ustaadon Ka Ustaad. She had an appearance on the 2008 NDTV Imagine programme Nachle Ve with Saroj Khan. This show was choreographed by her. She was one of the judges on Sony’s Boogie Woogie in December 2008, alongside Javed Jaffrey, Naved Jaffrey, and Ravi Behl.
She served as a judge for the third season of the popular show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, which debuted on Sony Entertainment Television (India) on February 27, 2009, and included actress Juhi Chawla and former Nach Baliye judge Vaibhavi Merchant.[Reference required] Alongside Saroj Khan, she served as a judge in the dance reality show Nachle Ve.
The Saroj Khan Story, a documentary directed by Nidhi Tuli and produced by PSBT and Films Division of India, was released in 2012. Television made an appearance as a dancing competition judge in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Of all choreographers, she received the highest honours with eight Filmfare Awards and three National Film Awards.
Death
On June 17, 2020, Khan was brought to Guru Nanak Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai, due to respiratory problems. On July 3, 2020, Khan, then 71 years old, passed away from a cardiac attack.
