Munawar Faruqui is an Indian stand-up comedian and rapper who was born on 28 January 1992. He participated in Kangana Ranaut’s reality television programme Lock Upp Season 1 in 2022 and won the competition.

Munawar Faruqui Early Years

In a Muslim Indian household, Munawar Faruqui was born on January 28, 1992, in Junagadh, Gujarat. After his home was destroyed in the Gujarat communal riots of 2002, his family relocated to Mumbai, and when he was only 13 years old, his mother passed away not long after.

When his father became ill when he was 13 years old, he was forced to labour for his family. While going to school, he had a job at an appliance store.Munawar Iqbal Faruqui was a graphic designer in his early twenties. He became aware of humour in 2017 and started working as a comedian at the same time as several OTT channels were introduced in India.

Munawar Faruqui Career

Munawar Faruqui gained his initial notoriety in April 2020 after posting the stand-up comedy clip “Dawood, Yamraaj & Aurat” to his YouTube page. In August 2020, he collaborated with an Indian musician named Spectra to release his debut single, “Jawab.”

Munawar Faruqui posted a stand-up comedy clip titled “Ghost Story” on his YouTube channel on February 28, 2021.Munawar Iqbal Faruqui started competing in Kangana Ranaut’s reality series Lock Upp in 2022. He was named the show’s winner on May 8, 2022.Munawar Iqbal Faruqui performed the punjabi/panjabi song “Todh” on November 5, 2022, with Prince Narula and Ronay Anjali.

Munawar Faruqui Arrest in 2021

On his tour, Munawar Faruqui was giving comedic performances in various Indian towns. Eklavya Singh Gaur, the son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur, interrupted his stand-up performance at the Munro Cafe in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on January 1, 2021, accusing him of making slanderous jokes about Hindu deities and Indian Home Minister Amit Shah.

He was detained on January 2 by the Madhya Pradesh Police while performing a comedic performance, and they claimed that they had detained him due to India’s laws against hate speech. Despite the lack of proof against Munawar, the police nonetheless detained him.
