Born on January 9, 1989, Nina Kamenova Dobreva (Bulgarian: Нинa Каменова Добрева; pronounced [ˈninɐ ˈdɔbrɛvɐ]) is a Canadian actress, professionally recognised as Nina Dobrev (/ˈdoʊbrɛv/ DOH-brev). Nina Dobreva gained notoriety for her roles as Katherine Pierce and Elena Gilbert in the supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries on The CW from 2009 to 2015.

Dobrev, who was reared in Toronto and was born in Sofia, first appeared on TV in a number of supporting parts before securing the lead role of Mia Jones in the drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation (2006–2009).
