Indian actress Himani Bhatt Shivpuri is well-known for her character parts in Hindi soap operas and films. Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), Raja (1995), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Khamoshi (1996), Hero No. 1 (1997), Deewana Mastana (1997), Bandhan (1998), and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) are among the films for which she is most well-known.

Himani Shivpuri Individual Life

Shivpuri was born into a Garhwali Brahmin family in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Her mother Shail Bhatt is a homemaker, while her father Haridutt Bhatt Shailesh was a Hindi teacher.

Himanshu Bhatt is Himani’s brother. Her father, Shailesh, was a poet and a Hindi teacher at The Doon School, an all-boys boarding school, where she received her education. Himani Shivpuri participated actively in dramatics at Doon.

While pursuing a masters degree in Organic Chemistry at DAV College in Dehradun, India, she started a side career in theatre. Later, in 1982, she enrolled at the National School of Drama to further her acting career. She was a supporting actress in Phir Wahi Talash.

She wed actor Gyan Shivpuri, a Kashmiri Pandit who passed away in 1995. Her son is named Katyayan.

Himani Shivpuri Career

Shivpuri relocated to Mumbai following his brief employment with the NSD Repertory Company following his 1982 graduation from the National School of Drama .

Ab Ayega Mazaa, Shivpuri’s first feature film, was out in 1984. She next starred in the TV movie In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones in 1989. Her major commercial breakthrough came with Sooraj R. Barjatya’s Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), but she continued to star in art films after that, including Shyam Benegal’s Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda (1993) and Mammo (1994).

Himani Shivpuri made her television debut in Kunwar Sinha’s Humrahi (DD National) serial, which helped her gain a lot of recognition for her portrayal of Devki Bhojai. She had previously made a few cameos in Yatra by Shyam Benegal and Phir Wahi Talash by Lekh Tandon. After Humrahi, she started to appear frequently on Indian television.

She starred in series like Hasratein on Zed TV in 1995, where she played an unhappy wife who was forced to marry a man twice her age and was looking for extramarital affairs to satisfy her needs. She also appeared in series like Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Josh (Star Plus), Ek Ladki Anjaani Si, and most recently, Ghar Ek Sapna (Sahara One) and India Calling (Star).

Even though she primarily plays character actors, she has had several noteworthy roles in films such as Koyla (1997), Pardes (1997), Anjaam (1994), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001).

She has worked for numerous film production companies throughout the years, such as Dharma Productions (owned by Yash Johar), Rajshri Productions, and Yash Raj Films (owned by filmmaker Yash Chopra). Himani Shivpuri appeared in Umrao Jaan, directed by J. P. Dutta. Up till 2009, Himani Shivpuri portrayed Kul in Zee’s Hamari Betiyoon Ka Vivaah.

Her brief appearance in the short documentary film The Facebook Generation, directed by Sahil Bhardwaj and produced by Blue Strike Productions and Dev Samaj Modern School, was noted. The film was one of the top 10 finalists in The Global Education and Leadership Foundation’s Reel to Real filmmaking competition at Harmony 2012.
