Born in Mumbai on February 21, 1990 , Dassani was the daughter of actor Bhagyashree and her husband, Himalaya Dassani. Avantika Dassani, his younger sister, debuted as an actress in the online series Mithya.
Dassani continued his education by attending the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and the New York Film Academy. Abhimanyu Dassani is trained in karate and taekwondo and practices martial arts as well. Dassani debuted in a feature film opposite Radhika Madan in Vasan Bala’s action-comedy Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. Dassani portrayed a man devoid of all pain. Pradeep Menon of Firstpost observed that “his look suits the character of a guy who has not had enough meaningful interactions with the real world” and that “he occupies the screen well”. Dassani then starred opposite Sanya Malhotra in the romantic comedy Meenakshi Sundareshwar, which debuted on Netflix in 2021. The movie got mixed reviews and was criticised for its clichéd portrayal of Tamil people . Rediff.com writer Sukanya Verma observed, “Abhimanyu is just the man to play Sundaram, embodying what a sincere heart and heartfelt apology cannot achieve.”
Dassani costarred with Shirley Setia and Shilpa Shetty in the 2022 movie Nikamma.
