Madhur Bhandarkar is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer who was born on August 26, 1968. The Indian government awarded Bhandarkar the fourth-highest civilian distinction, the Padma Shri, in 2016.
Notable works include the critically acclaimed crime drama Chandni Bar (2001), for which he received the National Film Award for Best Film on Social Issues; the dramas Page 3 (2005), Traffic Signal (2007), and Fashion (2008), for which he received nominations for the Filmfare Awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film.

In addition, Bhandarkar co-produced the Bengali movie Avijatrik (2021), which was chosen to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali. Madhur Bhandarkar Career
Bhandarkar was employed in Khar, a Mumbai suburb, in a video cassette library. Because of this, he had access to a vast library of films and used them to study filmmaking.
Bhandarkar first gained experience as an assistant to small-time filmmakers before being hired by Ram Gopal Varma. Even in Varma’s love comedy Rangeela (1995), in which he served as associate director, he made his debut.

During the seventh Pulotsav – An Art Festival in Pune, an award ceremony commemorating the Silver Jubilee Year of Aashay Film Club was held on November 16 at the National Film Archive Theatre. Maharashtra and other areas of the world continue to honour the literary works of PL Deshpande, a well-known writer, actor, and stage and screen creator. Bhandarkar comes from a Gaud Saraswat Brahmin family that speaks Konkani[6] and Marathi. He dropped out of school. His family belonged to the middle class. Madhur was forced to take on multiple jobs as a result. As an errand boy at a video store, he delivered tapes to customers from a variety of backgrounds, including dance bar ladies and movie stars. Along with working as a small-time director’s assistant for ₹1000, he also peddled chewing gum at traffic lights.
Madhur Bhandarkar has been walking to the temple every Tuesday for the past 18 years from his home in Khar, Mumbai, as a devoted devotee of the Hindu god Siddhivinayak. Madhur also frequently travels to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and the Vaishno Devi Temple in Jammu & Kashmir. He claimed that after disclosing Page 3 culture in his last film, he would be shunned by the business world, making the film business (2006) his most challenging.
