Born on January 26, 1980, Varun Grover is an Indian writer, filmmaker, and lyricist. In 2015, he took home the Best Lyricist trophy from the 63rd National Film Awards. Aisi Taisi Democracy, a political parody group, was co-founded by him. and in 2023, the 52nd Rotterdam International Film Festival featured his debut film, All India Rank, as its closing feature. Grover writes poems, acts, and does stand-up comedy.
Varun Grover Childhood And Schooling
Grover is from a Punjabi Hindu household; he was born in Sundernagar, Himachal Pradesh, to a father who is an army engineer and a mother who teaches school. Originally, his paternal grandparents resided in the British Indian province of Punjab, in the city of Faisalabad. Following India’s partition, Faisalabad was included in Pakistan’s West Punjab region. As a result, he relocated to Jagadhri, in modern-day Haryana, where he settled and eventually began painting signs for retail establishments.

Varun Grovermoved on to create posters for the newly opened movie theater in Jagadhri in the beginning of the 1950s. He gave the go-ahead for his two older sons—Varun’s uncles and his father’s brothers—to create similar posters as well. The family began to enjoy viewing movies as a result, and they did it at the same theater where Varun’s grandfather used to take his father. Varun cites this to having “inherited the same addiction from [his] father,” which explains his love in movies. Varun was born and raised in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and Sundernagar. He later moved to Lucknow to grow up. In 2003, he received his degree in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi.

In 2017, Varun Grover and US-based producer Krishna Chetan collaborated on a song called Beete Dino Ke Geet .
