His repertoire as a vocalist includes hits from a variety of genres, including Dhoom Again, Kurban Hua, Jee le Zara, Marjaiyann, I Feel Good, Jab Mila Tu, Tu Meri, Swag Se Swagat, Bala, Har Funn Maula, and Khuda Hafiz and others. He stated that he could “sing any genre from Rock to Romantic, as he has particular voice texture for kind of genre” in an interview.[To whom?][Reference required] Notable songs as the vocalist for the band Pentagram include Voice, Tomorrow’s Decided, Must I, Love Drug Climbdown, and more.

He has written songs for films like Om Shanti Om, Anjaana Anjaani, Dostana, Bang Bang!, Sultan, Student of the Year, Befikre, War, and I Hate Luv Stories, among others, in his capacity as music director. Vishal Dadlani has collaborated with numerous worldwide musicians, including Akon, Diplo, The Vamps, and Imogen Heap.

Vishal Dadlani Early years

In Bandra, West Bombay, Dadlani was born and brought up in a Hindu Sindhi household. Following his two years of attendance at Jai Hind College, University of Mumbai (1989–1990), he proceeded to H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, HSNC University, both located in Churchgate, South Bombay. Vishal Dadlani had previously attended Hill Grange High School at Pedder Road, Cumbala Hill, South Bombay. He earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce in 1994.

Dadlani’s musical career began in 1994 when he fronted the electronica/indie-rock group Pentagram, based in Mumbai. Pentagram is now acknowledged as one of the forerunners of independent Indian music.

Dadlani gained recognition as a Bollywood song composer, performer, and lyricist while he was still in the band, working on films such as Jhankaar Beats, Bluff Master, and Salaam Namaste.

The Bollywood composing/producing/performing team Vishal-Shekhar was created in 1999. Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani have collaborated on films in Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. I See You (2006), Om Shanti Om (2007), Jhankaar Beats (2003), Dus (2005), Bluffmaster (2005), Ra.One (2011), Student of the Year (2012), Chennai Express (2013), Bang Bang! (2014), Happy New Year (2014), Sultan (2016), and Befikre (2016) are some of their noteworthy works.

The pair has become well-known across the country and is now recognised for having helped create the contemporary Bollywood sound. They have written music for more than 60 films, released more than 300 songs, and participated in more than 1,000 performances across the globe. In 2003, the two gained notoriety for penning the soundtrack for the movie Jhankaar Beats, which featured the hit song “Tu Aashiqui Hai”. For their contribution on the movie, they were awarded the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent.

Vishal Dadlani Disputes

Dadlani’s and some of his family members’ names became public when the Panama Papers were leaked because of investments they had made in the British Virgin Islands through his company, Sunny Blessing Holding Inc. The enforcement directorate is now looking into a few of these transactions.

Dadlani faced a lot of backlash in 2016 for tweeting disparaging remarks about the Jain monk Muni Tarun Sagar. Several First information reports were filed against him after he was accused of offending religious feelings, but the monk is alleged to not have taken the accusations seriously. Subsequently, Dadlani stated in an open letter that his worst error had been the tweets. The Punjab and Haryana High Court penalised him for the tweet.

Vishal Dadlani Playback vocalist

As a playback singer, Dadlani’s career began when Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy requested him to perform “Kiss Of Love” for the film Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.[Reference required] However, because to certain circumstances (citation needed), the song was postponed. In response, he recorded “Dhoom Again” for Pritam at Aditya Chopra’s request, and it was released prior to “Kiss of Love”.[Reference required]
