Richa Sharma is an Indian playback singer and devotional singer who was born on August 29, 1974. Richa Sharma sang the bidaai song, the longest song in Bollywood history, in the 2006 film Baabul.

Richa Sharma Career

Richa continued to study Indian classical and light music under Pandit Aaskaran Sharma’s guidance. Richa expanded her repertoire to include ghazals, movie songs, Punjabi and Rajasthani folk tunes, which helped her voice resonate with a wider audience by offering a range of tones.

When music was at its height in Richa’s life, she had to forgo her academic training and move to Bombay in 1994 with little support and a desire of being a successful musician. In order to make sure she had her bread and butter, she sang bhajans and cover versions while still pursuing her career in Bollywood. She made her Bollywood debut in 1996 in Sawan Kumar’s Salma Pe Dil Aa Gaya. She then starred in a few other films before Taal, where she sang for A.R. Rahman, became a huge blockbuster.

Zubeidaa, Saathiya (A.R. Rahman); Hera Pheri (Anu Malik); Khakee (Ram Sampath); Tarkeeb (the song “Duppatte Ka Palu”), Baghban (Title Song for Aadesh Shrivastava); Soch (the song “Nikal Chali Be” for Jatin–Lalit); Rudraksh, Kal Ho Naa Ho (Sad version of the title track for Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy); Gangajal (Sandesh Shandilya); Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao (Vishal–Shekhar), Saawariya (Monty Sharma), Om Shanti Om (Vishal–Shekhar), and the most well-known song for Kaante (“Mahi Ve” for Anand Raaj Anand).

In addition, the talented playback singer has released a number of albums to highlight her abilities. Records such as Ni Main Yaar Nu Sajda Kardi, Piya, and Winds of Rajasthan (issued in early 2004 by Times Music) have showcased Richa’s vocal variety and elegance.

Richa Sharma and her family released her first Saibaba devotional CD, Sai Ki Tasveer, through SaReGaMa India in March 2011, concurrently with the dedication of the Saibaba Temple in Faridabad, Haryana.
