Indian sport shooter Swapnil Kusale was born on August 6, 1995, and he competes in three places for the 50-meter rifle. In the men’s 50-meter rifle three positions competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics, he took home the bronze medal.

In the Kolhapur district’s Kambalwadi village, Kusale was born on August 6, 1995. His father registered him in the Krida Prabhodini sports programme of the Maharashtra government in 2009. Kusale had to select one activity after a year of rigorous physical preparation, and he ultimately decided on shooting. Swapnil Kusale was able to purchase his first gun in 2015 after starting work as a ticket collector for the Indian Railways in Pune.

Swapnil Kusale took home the gold in the junior division of the 2015 Asian Shooting Championships held in Kuwait using a 50-meter rifle prone 3. He also won the 50-meter rifle prone event in the 59th National Shooting Championship, which was held in Tughlakabad, that same year, defeating Chain Singh and Gagan Narang. In the 61st National Championship in Thiruvananthapuram in 2017, he replicated the same achievement, capturing a gold medal in the 50-meter rifle position.

After placing fourth in the men’s 50-meter rifle 3 position event at the 2022 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Cairo, he was awarded an Olympic quota spot for India in October 2022. Following tryouts in Delhi and Bhopal, he was chosen for the Indian Olympic team in the 50m rifle three positions event in May 2024. Based on his performance in the first three trials, Kusale was chosen for the team as the second shooter even though he placed fifth in the last trial.
In the men’s 50-meter rifle three positions event in the 2024 Olympics, Kusale made history as the first Indian to advance to the finals and take home the bronze medal with a final score of 451.4.

In 2015, he began working for Central Railway as a Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE). For years, he had been asking for a promotion. He received a double promotion after winning the bronze medal, going on to become an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Mumbai Sports Cell.
