Sania Mirza was born in November 1986 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is a tennis player. Her playing style is right-handed and backhanded with both hands. Sania married Shoaib Malik in 2010.
Sania Mirza’s father Imran Mirza was a sports correspondent and mother Naseema worked in a company involved in the printing business in Mumbai. She did her schooling in Hyderabad and received an honorary doctorate from the MGR Institute of Educational and Research University in Chennai in 2008. of. She started playing tennis at the age of 6 from Nizam Club in Hyderabad and later she went to Ace Tennis Academy of America.
Sania Mirza started her career by participating in the World Junior Tennis Championship in 1999. She participated in many international matches and was successful. She was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2005 for her outstanding performance. At the end of 2005, Sania’s international ranking was 42, the highest for any Indian tennis player. In 2009, she became the first Indian to win a Grand Slam. Became a female player.
Sania Mirza was named among the 50 heroes of Asia by Time magazine in October 2005.
In March 2010, she was included in the list of 33 proud women of India by Navbharat Times newspaper. And currently she is the ‘Brand Ambassador’ of the newly formed Indian state of Telangana. She has established the Sania Mirza Tennis Academy.
Sania Mirza played as the top Indian tennis player in singles and doubles in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) for a decade from 2003 to 2013.
This player, who became famous globally at the age of just 18, was honored with the ‘Padma Shri’ award in 2006. She is the youngest player to receive this honour. In 2006, she was honored with the WTA’s ‘Most Impressive Newcomer Award’ in America.
Sania Mirza has also participated in four Olympics – 2008 Beijing, 2012 London, 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo. Sania won the Wimbledon Junior Doubles Championship title at the age of 17. She has managed to win 10 singles and 13 doubles titles as a junior player.
