Raja Kumari Childhood

In Claremont, California, Raja Kumari is born as Svetha Yallapragada Rao into a Telugu family. Her family is from the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. With a focus on South Asian faiths, Kumari obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in religious studies.

Kumari first became aware of hip hop in the fifth grade when she listened to The Score by the Fugees. She has experience performing live at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad and is a trained dancer in Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and Kuchipudi.

The song was released on Venkatesh Daggubati’s birthday and was a tribute to the Telugu actor.

Raja Kumari has had three nominations for Best India Act at the MTV European Music Awards. Alongside Lauren Jaregui, she co-hosted the American Music Awards Pre-Show telecast. Additionally, Kumari has been named the face of MAC Cosmetics’ #MACStarringYou holiday campaign, which will see her featured in international advertisements and marketing materials. She served as a judge for MTV Hustle’s first season of the rap battle competition program.

Raja Kumari founded Godmother Records, an independent record company, in 2022. She collaborated with Kshmr on the song “All Fall Down” in 2023.
