On October 20, Varun Mitra was born in Delhi, India. He completed his education at Delhi University after attending The Shri Ram School in Moulsari. After trying out, Varun was chosen to anchor the NDTV show Two for the Road, in which he would ride a rickshaw throughout the town and discover its automotive culture. Following that, he applied for a new NDTV programme called Great Drives, which was supported by Tata Safari and required him to spend ten days travelling to various isolated locales.
In 2015, Varun made his feature film debut in the drama Kaash. As Dev Mathur, he starred in the 2018 drama-romance film Jalebi. In 2019, he made his television drama series debut as Badol in Bombers. He worked on the TV legal drama serial Deepak Rana in 2022.

Varun began working for a company after graduating. He did so for a few years before quitting to pursue his passion for acting and modelling, which led him to travel to Mumbai in search of employment. Thus, with much struggle, he began to get work. Initially, he worked on an advertisement for Titan Watch alongside superstar Katrina Kaif. After then, he continues to work on advertisements for Cadbury, Samsung, and Nisaan. Varun worked on advertisements before he was finally cast in Pushpdeep Bhardhwaj’s film Jalebi, which was hailed as one of his best works.

Following that, he worked for Tejas, Kaash, and If Only. In 2022, his web series Guilty Minds debuted on Prime Video, receiving a resounding reception from the public in 2023. His other web series, Sas Bahu Aur Flamingo, costarring Radhika Madan and Dimple Kapadia, was released on Hotstar. And now, on August 11, 2023, Rakshak – India Braves, his most recent short film, was released on Amazon Mini TV. This movie is available to watch for free.
