On September 5, 1986, Kamath was born in Shimoga, Karnataka, India. After the tenth grade, Kamath left school, and he never got a diploma.

Kamath began his profession as an equity trader on the side and worked at a contact center. In order to manage high-net-worth individual portfolios in the public markets, Kamath became a sub-broker in 2006 and founded Kamath & Associates, a brokerage firm, with his brother Nithin Kamath.
