Wellington’s Michael Gordon Bracewell is a cricket player from New Zealand who was born on February 14, 1991. Michael Bracewell is the cousin of current international player Doug Bracewell and comedian Melanie Bracewell, as well as the nephew of former Test players Brendon and John Bracewell.

Michael Bracewell was a student at Dunedin’s Kavanagh College. In March 2022, he made his debut for the cricket squad representing New Zealand internationally.

Michael Bracewell was given a contract with Wellington for the 2018–19 campaign in June 2018. Round six of the 2019–20 Plunket Shield saw Bracewell win his first-ever five-wicket haul in first-class cricket in March 2020.
Wellington made him a contract offer in June 2020, just in time for the domestic cricket season of 2020–21. On January 8, 2022, Bracewell scored 141 runs without giving up for the Wellington Firebirds against the Central Stags in the 2021–2022 Super Smash event. It was the highest total ever achieved by New Zealand in a Twenty20 cricket match.

Bracewell was included in the Twenty20 International (T20I) and One Day International (ODI) squads for New Zealand’s home series against the Netherlands in March 2022. On March 29, 2022, he played his first ODI match for New Zealand against the Netherlands. Bracewell was included in the New Zealand Test team for their England visit in May 2022. On June 10, 2022, he played his first Test match for New Zealand against England.
Bracewell earned his first century in an ODI cricket match against Ireland in July 2022, the opening game of the series.On July 18, 2022, Bracewell played in his first T20I match for New Zealand against Ireland. Two days later, Bracewell scored his first T20I cricket hat-trick in the series’ following encounter against Ireland.
In the opening game of the series against India in January 2023, Bracewell batted and hit the third fastest century for New Zealand in ODI cricket history. Michael Bracewell also matched the record held by MS Dhoni, who was the only batsman to achieve over a century when batting at number seven or below. Michael Bracewell was signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore to fill the void left by the injured Will Jacks for the 2023 Indian Premier League.
