Indian cricket player Vijay Shankar was born on January 26, 1991, and he currently plays for the Tamil Nadu state team. Vijay Shankar is an all-around player who bowls medium-pace right-arm bowls and bats right-handed.

While representing Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy knockout stages in 2014–15, he was named Man of the Match thrice. Vijay Shankar was added to India B’s roster for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy in October 2019. He led the Tamil Nadu team throughout their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy-winning campaign (2021–2022).

Vijay Shankar participated in four IPL games for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017 and one for the Chennai Super Kings in 2014 . On May 13, 2017, he achieved his greatest batting score of 63 not out against the Gujarat Lions.

The Delhi Daredevils purchased him in the January 2018 IPL auction. For the 2019 Indian Premier League, he was moved back to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Gujarat Titans purchased him at the Indian Premier League 2022 auction in February of that year.
International career Nidahas Trophy winners in 2018 and Sri Lanka in 2017
He was included in India’s Test team for their series against Sri Lanka on November 20, 2017, as a replacement for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, however he did not play. Vijay Shankar was included in the Indian Twenty20 International (T20I) team for the 2018 Nidahas Trophy in February of that year. On March 6, 2018, he made his T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka during the 2018 Nidahas Trophy. In his second encounter, he used the Umpire Decision Review System to get rid of Mushfiqur Rahim, earning his first wicket in T20Is. He claimed two wickets for 32 runs in the second Nidahas Trophy match of 2018, which India won by six wickets. He was declared the player of the match.
2019 in New Zealand and Australia
Shankar was selected to play the final two One Day Internationals (ODI) of the Australian tour and the entire limited-overs series in New Zealand in January 2019. Hardik Pandya was banned for his inflammatory remarks on a TV show.

Vijay Shankar was selected for India’s 2019 Cricket World Cup roster in April 2019, beating over more seasoned players like Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina, which at the time generated a lot of media attention. Vijay Shankar was selected as one of the five unexpected players for the competition by the International Cricket Council (ICC). He became the third player in World Cup history to take a wicket with the first ball in the match against Pakistan. Shankar announced his engagement to Vaishali Visweswaran on August 20, 2020, and the two got married on January 27, 2021. On October 30, 2021, the couple welcomed their first child.
