Indian cricket player Venkatesh Rajasekaran Iyer was born on December 25, 1994. Venkatesh Iyer currently plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Madhya Pradesh in the state league.

While studying a Bachelor of Commerce degree, Iyer made his Twenty20 debut at Holkar Stadium against the Railways cricket team in March 2015 and his List A debut at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in December of the same year. In the 2021–22 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he maintained his form by hitting in the lower middle order and amassing 379 runs at an average of 63.16 with a strike rate of above 133. This featured two hundreds, the highest of which was 151 , making him the first batsman in the Vijay Hazare Trophy history to reach 150 or more when batting at number six or below. Ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League, Iyer was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction in February 2021. On September 20, 2021, he made his IPL debut against Royal Challengers Bangalore as the IPL resumed in the United Arab Emirates. Against the Mumbai Indians on September 23, 2021, he scored his first IPL fifty.
Iyer scored 370 runs at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 129, emerging as a crucial member of KKR’s lineup for the remainder of the tournament and helping them reach the championship. After amassing 55 runs in the second qualifier, he was named player of the match. In the final, he scored an additional fifty runs. He set up an opening stand of 91 with opening partner Shubman Gill, but it all in vain as KKR lost the game.

Iyer made his first IPL century on April 16, 2023, against the Mumbai Indians, scoring 104 runs in 51 balls. As a result, he became just Brendon McCullum’s second batter to register a century for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

To play net bowler for India in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2021, he was asked to remain in the United Arab Emirates. Venkatesh Iyer was included in the Indian Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their November 2021 series against New Zealand. On November 17, 2021, he made his T20I debut for India against New Zealand. In the last game of this series, he bowled for his first team on an international level, recording statistics of 3-0-12-1.
Venkatesh Iyer was included in the India One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against South Africa in December 2021. On January 19, 2022, he played his first ODI for India against South Africa.
Venkatesh Iyer was included in the India T20I squad for their January 2022 series against the West Indies Venkatesh Iyer participated in all three games, finishing runs at a strike rate of 179.24 while playing a finishing role in the lower middle order.
