On June 1, 1993, Patidar was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh . His dad owns his own firm. When he was eight years old, he joined a cricket club, and his grandfather later enrolled him in an academy. After reaching the U-15 levels, he turned his attention to batting, having begun his career as a bowler.

During the 2022 IPL Player Auction, Patidar was not purchased. Later, Patidar was signed for INR 20 Lakhs by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the middle of the season to replace the injured Luvnith Sisodia. In the 2022 Indian Premier League Eliminator match on May 25, 2022, Patidar made a game-winning knock of 112* (54) against the Lucknow Super Giants. Patidar broke all previous records with this innings, becoming the first player without a cap to score a century in the Indian Premier League playoffs.

Patidar’s outstanding domestic season and his 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) performances earned him a spot in the One-Day International (ODI) squad for the October series against South Africa.
