Narayan was born into the family of singers Udit and Deepa Narayan. Aditya Narayan said in November 2020 that he will marry Shweta Agarwal in December of the same year. On December 1, 2020, they tied the knot in a modest, intimate ceremony held in Mumbai, with only a few guests in attendance. In March 2022, they gave birth to a daughter.

In 1992 , Narayan recorded his debut playback song for the Nepalese film Mohini. Later, he appeared in the Hindi film Rangeela, starring Asha Bhosle. Aditya Narayan and his father, Udit Narayan, sang a song for Akele Hum Akele Tum later in 1995.
When producer and director Subhash Ghai saw Narayan as the last performance for the “Little Wonders” troupe at the 1995 Filmfare Award ceremony, it marked the beginning of his childhood acting career. Ghai then signed him to star in his upcoming movie Pardes, which also stars Mahima Chaudhary and Shah Rukh Khan. Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, starring Salman Khan and Twinkle Khanna, was his second motion picture. Narayan was nominated for a 1999 Zed Cine Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Kabir Dhanrajgir.
When Narayan was still a young performer, he put out over 100 shows and released the album Aditya through Polygram Music (now Universal Music). “Chhota Baccha Jaan Ke” from the 1996 movie Masoom was his most popular song. Aditya Narayan finished his English contemporary music diploma at Tech Music Schools in London in 2006. For Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, the producer/director hired Narayan as an assistant director at the beginning of 2012. On August 6, Narayan celebrated his birthday by releasing “Tera Ishq Jee Paaun,” his second Hindi single, which features Yoshika Verma and was written and arranged by Manoj Yadav under the T-Series record label. In December, Narayan launched his debut single that was successful commercially. Under the T-Series record label, the music video “Zindagi” featured Evgeniia Belousova and was written and arranged by Harshit Chauhan and Prashant Ingole.
Narayan returned to hosting SaReGaMaPa in 2016. Record-breaking TRPs were received for the grand finale, and Narayan broke his own record for the most viewers of a grand finale during his time presenting Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge in 2009. Narayan’s self-penned and produced fourth song, “Mohabbat,” was released in March by T-Series Records. 2018 saw Narayan return to hosting Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zed TV for another season of the popular show.
He competed in the ninth season of the well-liked stunt-based reality series Khatron Ke Khiladi on Colours TV in 2019, finishing as the runner-up and falling short against Punit Pathak. He began hosting the third season of the singing reality show Rising Star in March 2019. He makes numerous sporadic appearances in Khatra Khatra Khatra in April and May. He dropped “Lillah,” another song, on his YouTube page on October 2. On October 7, a song video featuring him and Sushrii Shreya Mishraa was made public.
