Born on November 1, 1973, Tisca Zareen Chopra (née Arora) is an Indian actress, writer, and producer who has acted in more than 45 feature films, most of which have been in the Hindi language. Her most well-known feature film, Taare Zameen Par, served as India’s official submission for the Academy Awards.

Her Filmfare and other major nominations were also won by it. In 2013, Qissa, a different feature film, made its Toronto Film Festival debut and took home the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film. The movie has been shown at more than 24 festivals, taking home nearly every major prize and receiving positive reviews from both reviewers and viewers. Tisca worked actively in theatre after earning her bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Delhi. In Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, on November 1, 1969, Tisca Chopra was born into a family of educators . Her father was stationed as the principal of India International School in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she was raised before relocating to Delhi. Her father was the principal of Apeejay School in Noida, where she received her diploma. Tisca Chopra afterwards attended Hindu College, University of Delhi, to study English literature.
