In an interview with Zoom TV on September 26, 2018, Dutta claimed that Nana Patekar had harassed her sexually while she was filming Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss in 2009. In India, this served as a spark for the “Me Too” movement. In a 2013 interview, the accusation was made once more and was mainly disregarded. The CINTAA did not apologise to Dutta until her statements in September 2018. Even then, they acknowledged that the “chief grievance of sexual harassment wasn’t even addressed [in 2008]” and that they were unable to reopen the matter because it was older than three years.

Journalist Janice Sequeira, who claimed to have witnessed the incident, supported her claims. Additionally, she said that while working on the sets of Chocolate (2005), director Vivek Agnihotri had ordered her to take off her clothing and dance with actor Irrfan Khan. She claimed that throughout this episode, Khan and Sunil Shetty defended her. In a legal notice addressed to her, Agnihotri denied all claims and revealed that it is an attempt on Dutta’s part to gain attention and damage his reputation. Dutta’s allegations were also refuted by Sattyajit Gazmer, Chocolate’s assistant director.

Dutta stated in a different interview, “He [Patekar] summoned the MNS party to wreck my automobile. The choreographer Ganesh Acharya supported him and was the driving force behind everything.” The journalists, not the MNS, were shown smashing Dutta’s automobile in a 2008 video that went popular on the internet. The automobile’s windscreen was being thrashed by a journalist called Pawan Bharadwaj, who subsequently explained that he had attacked her car because he had gotten into a dispute with Dutta’s team before the incident.

On October 13, 2018, Dutta’s legal representative Nitin Satpute filed a request at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai, requesting that lie detector tests, brain mapping, and narco-analysis be administered to director Rakesh Sarang, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, actor Nana Patekar, and producer Samee Siddiqui.

The police dropped their accusations against Patekar for alleged sexual harassment in June 2019. The Oshiwara police station in Mumbai issued a B-Summary report speculating that Tanushree’s complaint might have been “malicious” and “retaliatory.”
