Born on November 19, 1975, Sushmita Sen is an Indian actress, model, and beauty queen. After winning Femina Miss India when she was eighteen, she went on to win Miss Universe 1994. She has pursued a career in acting following her pageant victory.

Sen debuted as an actress in the 1996 thriller Dastak, portraying a fictionalised version of herself. Sushmita Sen won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as the girlfriend of a married man in the comedy film Biwi No.1 (1999), and was also nominated in the category for her parts in the dramas Sirf Tum (1999) and Filhaal… (2002).
Aankhen (2002), Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005), and Main Hoon Na (2004) are some of her other highly successful films. Sen had a career slump and absence before returning to the screen to star in the drama series Aarya (2020–present), for which she received a Filmfare OTT Award, and in the miniseries Taali (2023), where she played transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant.

Sushmita Sen was born in Hyderabad on November 19, 1975, into a Bengali Baidya family. His parents are Shubeer Sen, a former Wing Commander in the Indian Air Force, and Subhra Sen, a jewellery designer and store owner in Dubai. Sushmita Sen has a younger brother named Rajeev Sen, who was married to television actress Charu Asopa. Sen did not pursue any further higher education after attending the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi and St. Ann’s High School in Secunderabad.

Sushmita Sen qualified to participate in the Miss Universe 1994 pageant after winning the Femina Miss India title in 1994 as a teenager.

Sushmita Sen finished third overall in the preliminary round of the Miss Universe competition, behind Miss Venezuela Minorka Mercado and Miss Colombia Carolina Gómez. Sen went on to finish second, fifth, and third in the following rounds until taking home the Miss Universe 1994 title and crown.

Sen’s project, I Am She – Miss Universe India, took over after the Times Group gave up the right to select the Miss Universe Indian candidate, and it ran for three years (2010–2012). Femina then took over after this.
2016 Miss Universe judge
Sen made an appearance as one of the Miss Universe 2016 judges at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines in January 2017. Cynthia Bailey, Francine LaFrak, Mickey Boardman, Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes, and Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres joined her as judges.
Sushmita Sen Acting Profession
Sen entered the Hindi film industry after winning the title of Miss Universe. Her first movie was the 1996 thriller Dastak, in which Sharad Kapoor portrayed a stalker and she was the victim. After that, she co-starred with Nagarjuna in the 1997 Tamil action movie Ratchagan. When it was released, it was the priciest Indian movie. Sushmita Sen portrayed a low-key reporter opposite Sunny Deol in the critically panned film Zor in 1998.
Variations in career (2006–2011)
Sen released two albums in 2006. In Chingaari, she played a prostitute with a child opposite Anuj Sawhney for the first time. Rediff.com’s Priyanka Jain wrote, “Sushmita gives a fantastic performance. The entire film is all hers. The only possible reason to see this movie is because of her.” Later, she starred opposite Shiney Ahuja as rock star Kriya in the musical Zindaggi Rocks.
Sushmita Sen Individual Life
Sen is the mother of two girls who she adopted. Her second daughter, Alisah, joined the family in 2010, while her first daughter, Renee, was adopted in 2000. Sen needs to take steroid medications for the rest of his life to treat Addison’s disease.

From 2004 to 2006, Sen was romantically involved with actor Randeep Hooda. Sen then dated model Rohman Shawl from 2018 to 2021. It was reported in July 2022 that she is dating Lalit Modi, a businessman and cricket administrator.
